Where is the Zoige Prairie?

Zoige Prairie is located in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province, which belongs to the junction of western Sichuan and the eastern edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and is at the junction of Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai provinces. The administrative areas include Zoige, Hongyuan, Aba, Songpan, Maqu, Luqu in Gansu Province and Jiuzhi in Qinghai Province.

Biological resources

Zoige grassland has a wide variety of animals and plants and rich products. There are national wetland reserves, black-necked crane reserves and sika deer reserves. There are many migratory birds and wild animals here, such as coyotes, black-necked cranes, white swans, Tibetan mandarin ducks, storks, sika deer and red pandas. Tang Kyle was praised by the poet Du Fu as "the wind is as light as a hoof and the ears are as beautiful as bamboo". Tibetan medicine has magical curative effect, and "Pearl 70 Pills" is famous all over the world. "Green Wind" brand yak food is delicious.

River hydrology

The main rivers in Zoige are Gaqu, Moqu and Hot Qu, which flow into the Yellow River from south to north. The mountainous areas in the north and southeast are the overlapping mountains west of Qinling Mountain and the northern end of Minshan Mountain. The mountains are high and the valleys are deep, and the terrain is steep, with an altitude of 2400 to 4200 meters. The main rivers are Bailong River, Baozuo River and Brazil River. Zoige grassland is rich in aquatic plants, and winding rivers and oxbow lakes are dotted around, forming a unique bay scenery.
