In early 1991, Black Panther participated in the "Shenzhen Spring Modern Music Concert" and became famous, and was spotted by the famous Hong Kong manager Chen Jiantian (then Beyond's manager), and signed to Hong Kong's Jinshi Records (a branch of Taiwan's Rolling Stone Records) under the other party's influence, and became Beyond's mentor.
Li Tong recalls: "At that time, they were a famous band in Southeast Asia, and we were still new. We had the opportunity to work together a lot and developed a very good friendship." Li Tong recalls that he was most impressed by the first time Panther and Beyond shared a stage together, when five bands, including Beyond, Taiji and Panther, performed a cover of the Eagles' "Hotel California" on the same stage.
Black Panther first released their debut album, Black Panther, in Hong Kong and Taiwan in 1991. Tracks such as "Don't Break My Heart" and "No Place to Go" became hit songs for Chinese youths and are still rock classics.
In December 1992, the album "Black Panther" was released in mainland China, setting a record of 1.5 million boxes distributed. Black Panther became the most popular Chinese rock band in the world, and became synonymous with "rock and roll" in the minds of the people of an era.
In 1993, Black Panther toured 30 cities nationwide under the title "Operation Puncture," which was adored by millions of listeners. In mainland China, the "fire of rock and roll" was ignited. In August of the same year, the second album "Black Panther II - God of Light" was released in mainland China.
1994 signed in Japan JVC Records. June Rolling Sound rock sound field re-mixed the second album and cover design, and in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China and other Asian regions launched the world version of the "Black Panther II - God of Light" caused a major reaction in the world. In the same year, after Luan Shu quit, Black Panther fell into a "vocalist drought", they constantly looking for people to sing, but always unable to find a suitable candidate.
In 1995, Black Panther held more than 30 concerts across the country, and in the summer of the same year, successfully realized Tibet's first ever rock concert.
In February 1996, the third album, Black Panther III No Yes, No No, was released simultaneously in Asia. A record 450,000 copies were released in less than a month.
