The poem was included in the Hanyue yingling ji (Collection of the Heroic Spirits of the River Yue), in which he mentions his disappointment in Chang'an, so it was written between the third and twelfth centuries of the Tianbao reign (744) and 753. It is an important work for understanding the author's life and thought, as it recounts his four reunions and separations with Yuan Yan, and his travels before entering the capital are the most detailed. At first glance, it seems that this poem is only about the youthful life of the author, and it does not seem to have much positive ideological significance because it involves indulgence in alcohol, holding prostitutes, and socializing with Taoist priests, etc. In fact, this is not the case.
