Silkworm lantern dance
Silkworm lantern dance is a distinctive folk dance in Xupu County. Popular in longtan town, Xiaohuangsha and Zhuyuan, it is a family lamp of the Zhang family living here.
Before liberation, there was a Lantern Festival every year, and thousands of people gathered in Longtan Street, which was very lively. No matter how far away they are, all the most popular people dance their own lanterns into the street to perform. Among them, Zhang's "Silkworm Lantern" in Xiao Huangsha has a unique style and enjoys a good reputation here.
The "Silkworm Lantern" looks like a mature spring silkworm, with dozens of circles of different sizes woven with bamboo sticks as the skeleton, connected by ropes, divided into three parts: head, body and tail, covered with white cloth for external use, and the silkworm body cavity is dotted. The silkworm body can stretch and move, with a wide mouth and red beads in its mouth. When dancing, three men dance together with a string of lights, and two strings of lights are a group (a group of lights ***6 people). There is no limit to the number of groups. The more you dance, the more beautiful the picture is. Before the lights are put out, several "Kongming lanterns" are put out into the air on the grass field in the village (this lantern is a round lamp made of bamboo sticks, covered with paper, and filled with a candle made of volatile camphor and cooking oil, which can be kept in the air for half an hour after being lit, and it is said that it was invented by Zhuge Liang during the Three Kingdoms period). After the lights were raised, the whole village suddenly shone brightly, and men, women and children were jubilant. People in neighboring villages saw the "Kongming Lantern" rising in the sky and knew that Zhang's "Silkworm Lantern" began to perform, so every family set off firecrackers to welcome the "Silkworm Lantern".
"Silkworm Lantern Dance" vividly and delicately shows the graceful manner and quiet life habits of spring silkworms. Dance movements such as "double closing the door", "courtesy dance", "Tai Chi diagram", "silkworm lamp wrapped around the waist" and
"worshipping the four doors" in the lantern dance are extracted from the usual postures of the silkworm, such as twisting, shaking its head and standing upright. Dancing on the road, climbing the tree with two silkworms, crossing the bridge with two silkworms, eating leaves with two silkworms, and so on, are all forms of spring silkworms looking for mulberry leaves.
In the whole performance process, dancers must cooperate with each other tacitly and meticulously, so that the performance can be dynamic, coherent and natural, with both spirit and form, giving people an elegant, simple and interesting artistic enjoyment. At night, the "silkworm lamp" travels on the ridge of the field. From a distance, a string of white silkworm worms meanders in the night, which is very spectacular. Especially when dozens of strings of "silkworm lanterns" gather in the square to perform "going to the table" and "going to the tree", this strange array of silkworm lanterns can bring people to a dreamlike realm. It is full of mythical romance, which is rare in folk dance and fully embodies the creative wisdom of working people.
The music of "Silkworm Lantern" is mainly composed of local folk minor "Ten Kinds of Brocade" and percussion instruments, mainly gongs, cymbals and drums, with suona, which is lively, clear and pleasant, and full of local characteristics.
