Essay about Xuanhua Drum Tower

Spring in Xuanhua

Xuanhua, the first prefecture in western Beijing, is my hometown. It has a long cultural history and is a beautiful city. Its spring is very special.

Xuanhua is a northern city, and spring comes relatively late. After the beginning of spring, the weather is still very cold, the north wind is blowing, and sometimes snowflakes are still flying in the sky. There is no sense of spring at all.

Since mid-March, the weather has gradually warmed up. But sometimes the temperature drops suddenly, and the wind still blows frequently, but it is no longer biting and much gentler. The small river on Yanghe Beach began to melt, and sometimes you can see a few small fish swimming happily in the river. The grass quietly poked its head out of Mother Earth's arms, as if to test the heat or coldness of the weather. The willow trees by the river are gray when viewed up close and yellow when viewed from a distance. If you look closely, you will see that there are knots as big as millet grains growing on the branches. When the wind blows, the willow branches will dance with the wind. The lively and clever little swallows flew back from the far south, landing on the wires or branches, chirping non-stop, as if telling the story of the journey.

People took off their thick cotton clothes and put on spring clothes. The children flew kites happily in the square, and the farmers and uncles were happily busy in the fields. Pink peach blossoms and yellow jasmine flowers are in bloom on both sides of the street.

The wind blows every three days, often making the sky dark and the earth dark, until the flowers are in full bloom and the trees are covered with shade.

This is the spring of Xuanhua. It is cold and gives Xuanhua people strength; its wind is strong, giving Xuanhua people boldness. I like the spring in Xuanhua
