What is happiness?
To enter the dream industry, to complete a successful career, to form a harmonious family, to raise excellent children ...... all this, Song Xuejuan actually get, do.
But this was once the ideal woman for young Chinese men, in the later years of an old cast reunion program, looking at the former on-screen couples or silently shed tears.
Why?
On September 15, 1935, Song Xuejuan was born in Kaiyuan, Liaoning Province, which was under the occupation of the Japanese invaders, and at a very young age, she tasted the destruction of the mountains and rivers.
Because of the oppression of the local people in the Northeast by the Japanese invaders and the pseudo-Manchurian regime, Song Xuejuan followed her family around from childhood, and her elementary school alone changed four times.
After the founding of New China, Song Xuejuan finally gained a stable life, and in 1949, she entered the Fuxin Technical School to prepare for her future participation in the construction of New China.
After finishing her studies, Song Xuejuan entered the Fuxin coal mine to become a worker.
The Fuxin Haizhou open-pit coal mine was once the world-famous and largest open-pit coal mine in Asia, the first large-scale modernized open-pit coal mine after the founding of New China, and one of the 156 key projects at the beginning of the country.
As the "eldest son" of the **** and the country's open-pit coal mines, Fuxin Coal Mine also established its own cultural troupe, which actively absorbed the internal artistic talent and enthusiasm for creative performance of young workers.
The young Song Xuejuan is one of them.
At this time, Song Xuejuan was in her jasper years, and had grown into a beautiful young woman, with her features and temperament, and although she was young, she was already very calm when she performed.
Song Xuejuan soon became the backbone of the troupe, and won the silver medal at the 1953 Northeast Regional Literary and Artistic Competition for her role as Xiaolan in the play Catch Up.
Song Xuejuan's outstanding talent and appearance made her stand out in the booming mass cultural and artistic performances.
Changchun Film Studio, which had been working at the grassroots level, searching for creative materials and talents in mines and factories, took an immediate liking to Song Xuejuan.
In the 1950s, the establishment of a national cultural troupe was more important than the work of a movie studio.
But Song Xuejuan, after a few years on the drama stage, had truly fallen in love with acting, and after thinking about it, she chose to pursue her dream of becoming a movie actress and joined Changchun Film Studio.
At this time, Changchun Film Studio, as the cradle of film that accompanied the growth of the new China, was preparing to make its mark.
With the discovery of the subject matter of minority stories, in the mid-1950s Changchun Film prepared to make a movie about the Lahu people fighting against reactionary forces during the Republican era.
The Lahu, one of the oldest ethnic groups in China, and this movie takes place in the Lancang River Valley in Yunnan Province, where the Lahu's ancestors lived.
Song Xuejuan stars as the heroine, Nawa, a beautiful, brave, and infatuated Lahu girl.
For the young Song Xuejuan, it was not long after she became a movie actress that she took on the role of an ethnic minority woman in a movie that was completely different from her background.
This was a huge challenge for Song, who read the script over and over again.
The plot of Nawa and her townspeople and family fighting back against oppression and exploitation was a quick inspiration for her, as it was also her upbringing.
Though separated by thousands of miles, all the underclass people who lived through the Republican era share similar life experiences and frustrations and sufferings.
What made Song Xuejuan's performance difficult was the love scene between the heroine and the hero.
Song was in her early twenties at the time, so she couldn't understand the sweetness of the first love between the hero and the heroine, nor the obsession of being forced to part.
It was with this misgiving that Song Xuejuan entered the cast and began shooting the movie.
After joining the cast, Song Xuejuan met Wang Jie, who played the lead role of Zato.
Wang Jie was born in Jinzhou, Liaoning province in 1932. Although Song Xuejuan's hometown in Liaoning, unlike Song Xuejuan, who has always lived in Liaoning, Wang Jie left his hometown at an early age.
After graduating from the Shanghai Theater Academy, Wang Jie joined the Xi'an Drama Troupe, where he has been studying, living, and working at the cutting edge of China's literary world.
Wang Jie has loved sports since he was a child, and in addition to being a basketball player, he also loved boxing, which was a very cold sport at the time, and even won a national boxing championship.
This kind of growth experience and hobby, let Wang Jie born tall, strong and handsome, character also has the northeast people and sportsman unique bold.
The experience of studying in Shanghai and working in Xi'an also gave Wang Jie a rare sea atmosphere and the unique atmosphere of a thousand-year-old capital.
It was these qualities that made director Yu Yanfu, who was looking for a leading man, so happy at first sight.
And so, the beautiful and innocent "Nava" and the tall and handsome "Zato" met.
It was also Wang Jie's first time playing such a role in a movie, but he was a few years older than Song Xuejuan and had more acting experience.
So the two leads often discussed the script together, and often got into heated arguments.
But the more they argued, the more they realized that looking at the story from each character's point of view*** often inspired feelings they hadn't experienced when they were working on their own.
It turns out that "The Song of the Lusheng" is based on the novel "When the Lusheng Blows" by military writer Peng Jingfeng.
Because of the original novel, the screenplay has a strong literary flavor, and it moves forward like a babbling brook, with the characters' destinies and emotions flowing down the mountain range into the unknown.
But only the audience, as onlookers, can immerse themselves in such a perspective; the actors, as interpreters of the roles, have an increased difficulty in finding their way into the roles.
The movie is made up of two recollections, the heroine's point of view and the hero's point of view, and the heroine's part, although there is oppression and suffering but more prominent is still the sweetness of love and the persistence of the pursuit.
The sweetest and most memorable chapter of the heroine Nava's life in her mind is her engagement with the hero on the night of the full moon.
As they fall in love, reactionary bandits come to their paradise and destroy their peaceful life.
So the brave hero Zatu becomes the leader of the village resistance against the reactionary bandit army and organizes the village people to resist.
But how can the villagers with only primitive weapons defeat the reactionary bandit army, the failed Zato fled into the deep forest and disappeared.
The hero Zato's perspective in addition to Nawa's light, the rest are blood, he led the village resistance when the companions spattered blood, escaped into the primitive forest after the blood of the hair drink blood.
Because there is only blood and hatred in his heart, Zatu lost himself in the darkness of the primitive forest, and became a "savage" from the former sunny, cheerful and brave hunter.
For two young men born in a northeastern town and raised in the city, the story of Lusheng Lovesong is as mysterious as the Lancang River basin, full of unknowns that they don't understand.
The director and screenwriter of the movie helped the young people learn together about the local customs, culture, and the history and characteristics of the Lahu people.
Song Xuejuan and Wang Jie thus learned that the Lahu people had many brave warriors in the anti-imperialist and anti-feudalist struggles and liberation wars, and had fought hard against the reactionary forces under the leadership of the Party.
What most easily aroused Song Xuejuan's and Wang Jie's emotions and inspiration*** was the beautiful music of the Lancang River Valley.
When the cast and crew were on location, they often saw local villagers playing an instrument they'd never seen before, a gourd at one end and a xiao at the other, which produced beautiful melodies they'd never heard before.
This instrument is the Yunnan minority instrument "hulusi", the most suitable for playing mountain songs and ditties, especially men and women singing love songs with the perfect match.
The melodious tune inspired Yu Yanfu, the director of "Lusheng Love Song," to write the lyrics:
"A brother and a sister's love is long, as if the flowing water is ringing day and night; the flowing water will end sometimes, and the brother will always be beside me."
"A brother and a sister's love is long, as if the flowing water is ringing day and night; the flowing water will end sometimes, and the brother will always be beside me."
Yu Yanfu, unusually satisfied with his own divine writing, approached Beijing composer Lei Zhenbang, who had just been transferred to Changchun Film Studio, and asked him to compose a score for the movie.
Lei Zhenbang joined the Changchun Film Studio, y affected by the Changsha Film "art from life" style, and constantly to the motherland around the wind, from the people of all ethnic groups to absorb the essence of the search for inspiration.
The music of ethnic minorities is what Lei Zhenbang specializes in, and he was inspired by the Lahu folk songs, which he paired with Yu Yanfu's lyrics to write "The Wedding Vow".
The older artists were overjoyed by their own creative breakthroughs, and completely unaware of the ambiguous feelings of a pair of young people accompanied by the beautiful music.
With a deeper understanding of the movie's backstory, Song Xuejuan and Wang Jie gradually gained a deeper understanding of the love they had trouble understanding.
Nawa and Zatou did not simply fall in love at first sight, but their love was based on a similar upbringing, the same ideals, the same defense of dignity and life***, and a primal attraction to each other.
This kind of love from the soul to the body, are so rich and solid, once ignited, will not easily extinguished.
This is why Nava, after the disappearance of Zatu, remains unrelenting and searches hard for him.
It is also the reason why Zatu has lost his mind but is able to regain his senses when Nava blows him a love song.
Song Xuejuan and Wang Jie were both ecstatic when the most difficult part of the character's emotional performance was broken through, and they rushed to pair up again.
The lines have long been familiar, and although there is no combing and styling in the scene, the two handsome men and women in modern clothing looked into each other's eyes and hummed the words of their love for each other in the duet:
"It's hard to shoot an arrow with a crossbow without a string, and A-mei is better than a crossbow with strings on it; the world's sweetest honey, and A-mei's heart is sweeter than honey. sweetness.
The flowers are open to the bees, and the flowers and bees are inseparable; the bees are born to love the flowers, and the flowers are open for the bees."
At that moment, they were Nava and Zatu, y in love and sworn to be inseparable.
Lusheng Lovesong" was a huge success after its release. The heart-wrenching story, the beautiful scenery of Yunnan, and the movie's moving music all gave the audience a strong impact.
But it was the handsome Zatou and the beautiful Nawa who delighted the audience, and how they looked at each other with such passion that even the slightest touch of their fingers seemed to give birth to sparks.
The audience was asking who these two young actors, who had hardly seen each other before, were and are they a couple?
The audience, though regretful, did not care too much, but instead praised the two even more for their superb acting skills and promising future.
Indeed it didn't take long for the audience to see Song Xuejuan, who played the female lead He Lanying, in another wonderful movie, The Railway Guardian.
This time Song Xuejuan portrayed a completely different character from Nava, a resourceful and capable railroad attendant who is an excellent assistant to the hero's public security officer, working hand in hand to solve a major case.
Looking back from decades later, the movie's plot arrangement and character setup is very avant-garde and classic, and the commercial action movie "town circle work" James Bond series is actually such a routine.
The Railway Guardian focuses on a tense, fast-paced mainline crime-solving storyline, with only pure comradeship and comradeship between the male and female protagonists.
But that didn't stop Song Xuejuan's brilliant performance from reigniting the audience's love for her, and many male viewers at the time held her as the goddess of their hearts.
Song Xuejuan's image and temperament, which is full of feminine softness but without losing courage, is the ideal female image in the hearts of countless people.
The audience's praise never let Song Xuejuan lost, she is very clear that she has not been trained as a professional actor.
Although she started out in theater, she didn't have the stamina of the "veterans" who had been in theater for decades, as she quickly moved on to film.
So whether it's researching a script or interpreting a role, Song Xuejuan is meticulous, never indulging in passion, but rather in-depth research and rigorous preparation.
This rigor has allowed Song Xuejuan to achieve career success, "Lusheng Love Song", "Sisters on the Ice", "Railway Guards", "Sino-Japanese War", "Young People in Our Village - The Sequel" ......
The movies she appeared in Most of them are classics from the 50s and 60s that still shine decades later.
This rigor also allowed Song Xuejuan to form a harmonious family.
Song's first husband, Liu Wenhua, was a fellow villager from Kaiyuan, Liaoning province, and a colleague of hers at Changchun Film Studio.
The couple had a similar upbringing, **** the same career aspirations, compatible habits after marriage, and were able to support each other in the pursuit of art.
Her husband would point out Song Xuejuan's shortcomings in her performances, and she would give her husband reasonable opinions on his scripts.
In such a strong movie atmosphere, their children have coincidentally embarked on careers related to movies and acting.
The eldest daughter is a national-level drama actress, the youngest daughter is a national-level make-up artist, and the son is a lighting technician at Changchun Film Studios, so the family could make up a mini-drama team.
If there is any flaw in this happiness, it is probably that they were too polite to each other in the first few years of their lives because they were married on a blind date.
Although they have become the closest couple, there are still a lot of polite, even if there are different points of view, but also expressed very politely, and never issued a sharp criticism of each other.
This is in fact no excuse, *** with the life of the stumbling blocks is always the most demanding test of love, the reason why said "marriage is the grave of love" is therefore come.
A lot of strong love in the soaking salt marinade, changed flavor, but there is no denying that when the bland happiness in the face of strong hormonal attraction will still make people confused.
It's just that some people get caught up in it, and some get over it, and Song Xuejuan is the latter.
Unfortunately, the bland happiness Song Xuejuan insisted on was too short-lived, and her husband died of a serious illness when she was in her early forties.
Then, with the support of her children, Song Xuejuan remarried, but her second husband was ahead of her.
After her second husband's death, Song Xuejuan closed the door on love in her heart, and has become somewhat fearful of the loss of a close loved one, no matter how it comes about.
In 2007, a CCTV movie program, The Golden Years, invited the cast of Lusheng Lovesong to reunite, and after fifty years, Song Xuejuan and Wang Jie were reunited.
Fifty years of time has allowed wrinkles to creep across the faces of the beautiful women of the year, and the lush hair of the tall, handsome men of the year to disappear, and the years have carved cruel traces into them.
Song Xuejuan looked at Wang Jie, the memories of that year, such as waves of waves and waves of surging heart, rivalry when it is like the soul of the **** with the burning of the burning, tightly embraced when it is as if you can melt each other's warmth ......
Thinking about it, tears filled her eyes.
In the movie Pushing Daisies, there is a line: car and car collision is called a car accident, people and people collision is called love. Cars and cars always crash, but people and people always let.
This metaphor is not biased, but the anachronistic love, if you insist on "collision" that is indeed "car accident scene".
Song Xuejuan and Wang Jie avoided the "collision", looking back and perhaps regret, but left a love of the imagination, but also not lost a real beauty and fulfillment.
"Lusheng Love Song" crew after this brief reunion, with the memory of 50 years, and once again went their separate ways, and the end of the year shooting, as well as back to their respective lives.
Wang Jie died on July 30, 2009, at the age of 78 in Jinzhou.
Song Xuejuan died on May 3, 2012, at the age of 77 years old.
"The deep love between Ah Gao and Ah Siu is like a root of that banana; Ah Gao is like a banana leaf, and Ah Siu is the heart of the banana.
Swallows fly up to the sky in pairs, and I swing on the swing with Ah-Go (Sister); the swing swings into the clear sky, as if the swallows are wearing in the clouds."
