Naxi District is located in the southern part of the Sichuan Basin, the Yangtze River and the Yongning River Interchange, the south of the Yangtze River, Yongning River on both sides of the lower reaches of the river, east of Hejiang County, south of Xuyong County, west of the border of Yibin City, Jiang'an County, north of Luzhou City, Jiangyang District.

Naxi has a long history. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period, it belonged to the Ba County of the State of Ba. Han, Jin, North and South Dynasties for Jiangyang, Hanan, Mianshui and other counties. Sui belongs to Luzhou, Jiang'an, Han'an and other counties, Tang belongs to Jiang'an, Jingnan County, Northern Song Renzong Huangyou three years (1051) in the present Yongning River into the Yangtze River at the mouth of the Naxi Zhai.
Southern Song Li Zong Shao Ding five years (1232) to promote Naxi Zhai for Naxi County. It first belonged to Luzhou and then to Jiang'an Prefecture.
