The earliest original singer was the Japanese duo ザ? (The Peanuts) in 1973, with lyrics by Luv Yamayama and music by Kunihiko Kase. The original version was titled Erotic Fever の砂漠 (情热の砂漠). The Chinese version was first from Fifi Ouyang. The song was later reprised by Yu Chengqing.
