The Development of Tea-picking Opera in Nanchang

By the mid-1980s, with the active performance market of other categories, traditional Chinese opera performances were no longer in full swing. Like other local operas, Nanchang's tea-picking opera has gradually declined from its peak. 199 1 year, because the theater was rented to others, the troupe had to perform in the countryside. It was not until the beginning of 2002 that the troupe recovered the right to use the theater that it resumed rehearsing traditional plays such as "Three Girls Grab the Board" and "Three Visits to Otome".

Since then, Nanchang Tea-picking Troupe has once again embarked on the road of rapid development. In the spring of 2003, the drama "Escape" performed by the troupe was changed to the TV series "Peach Blossom"; At the end of 2004, at the invitation of Macau Global Chinese Federation, Nanchang Tea Picking Troupe went to Macau to perform. At the beginning of 2006, Nanchang Tea Picking Troupe visited and performed in seven countries, including France and Belgium. At the same time, the director's works have also won many awards at home and abroad.

In recent years, Nanchang Tea Picking Group has recruited nearly ten professionals from colleges and universities, and the quality of the team has been greatly improved. Despite this, Xiong, deputy head of Nanchang Tea Picking Troupe, said frankly: "At present, we are still in the stage of inheritance and have not yet developed into the period of reform and innovation."
