"Judge Wu" is Wu Xiufu, a Tujia nationality, born in Lichuan on June 1928. At the age of thirteen, he entered Duting Primary School, where he studied directly for one year. Then I went to the newspaper and worked as a printer and handyman twice. At the beginning of liberation, he served as a soldier in public security in western Hubei for three years, mainly serving the secret service. He has been mainly engaged in hairdressing all his life. He has been holding a razor since he was 17 years old and has been good at it for more than 50 years. After cutting his hair, he became an amateur referee and enthusiastically served the basketball court.
Wu Xiufu loved literature, art and sports since childhood. When he was studying haircut with his teacher, he often went to the theater to play ball and was scolded by his master. At that time, there were often folk artists performing in the city. Wu Xiufu learned while watching, and he learned all the dragon boat tunes, patterns and lotus fragrance vividly. Sometimes I don't forget to ask artists for lyrics after learning, and I often spend a long time with others until I give up my wish. Master Mou, who had a haircut with Wu Xiufu when he was young, often learned to do the action of "mud shinto". "Mud Shinto", a way for poor people to beg in the old society, means that beggars are naked and covered in mud, and their hands are flapping on their bodies to make them splash. Wherever beggars go, they are forced to pay them to leave early. Wu Xiufu saw that it was interesting for Master Mou to learn to do the action of "mud shinto", and he followed suit. As soon as he is free from his haircut, he will gesticulate and ponder his dancing skills. He often takes off his clothes, slaps his body with his hands, hums and dances. Numerous times of practice and thinking made him interested in this dance and formed a certain routine. Later, he tried to integrate the movements of folk dances such as yangko, acrobatics, funeral dance and lotus fragrance, and made rhythmic sounds by patting shoulders, arms, forehead, elbows, hips, legs and feet. Its dance movements and sound effects are similar to playing lotus fragrance. Because there are no props, but the rhythmic sound of touching all parts of the body with both hands, people call this dance "meat ring" in their spare time. Wu Xiufu writes and practices himself and entertains himself, making the dance movements skilled and stereotyped. Whenever he got a chance, he showed his hand and made numerous appearances in public, which gradually had an impact and formed a climate.
It is precisely because of his outstanding contribution to the inheritance of the Voice of Meat for many years that he was awarded the honorary title of "Master of Folk Art" in Enshi Autonomous Prefecture.
