Imagine if you had a good brother and best friend that you trusted, only to find out that he had been victimizing you, what would you do?
What would you do if he caused you irreparable harm while victimizing you?
What would you do if you realized he was screwing you over and you were subject to him at this point?
Get rid of him? Beat him up? Or do you do unto him what he has done to you? If you can't you can even cut him.
Sun Bin, his real name can't be traced now, because he had suffered Bin punishment (removed his kneecaps), so later people called him Sun Bin.
Sun Bin is the descendant of Sun Zi, who died more than 100 years later.
Sun Bin, in his youth, had worshipped Gigu Zi as his teacher together with Pang Juan to learn the art of war. This Guigu Zi we have articles about, he was a hermit of high virtue and had the ability to penetrate the heavens and the earth.
Sun Bin was simple and generous, modest and prudent, plus diligent and hard-working, Mr. Guigu liked him very much. So he opened a small stove and secretly taught him 13 chapters of Sun Tzu's Art of War. Soon, Gwizi cross-examined him one by one, Sun Bin answered all of them, and all of them had unique insights and profound play. Ghost Valley Zi was very satisfied.
But while they were satisfied, someone else was not! Pang Juan later found out about the opening of the small stove and became cynical about Sun Bin.
Pang Juan came down from the mountain and was recruited to Wei. Pang Juan became a great general and another military advisor. His son Pang Ying, nephews Pang Onion and Pang Mao all became generals. Because of their good performance in the early battles, they became famous and were reused.
Pang Juan didn't fulfill his promise of inviting Sun Bin to come down from the mountain after he was reused in Wei. Later King Hui of Wei heard that Sun Bin was very talented and asked Pang Juan to write a letter to invite him, which Pang Juan had to do.
Sun Bin received Pang Juan's letter and immediately packed up and went to Wei. When Pang Juan saw Sun Bin, he pretended to welcome him and offered him hospitality. Behind his back, he forged letters and designed to frame Sun Bin. In front of King Hui of Wei, Pang Juan defamed Sun Bin and said that he was fornicating with Qi. King Hui was furious and wanted to execute Sun Bin. Pang Juan, in order to cheat Sun Bin of the art of war he learned, and hypocritically pleaded with the King of Wei with the face of a classmate, turned the death sentence into Bin's punishment. He dug out both of Sun Bin's kneecaps and stabbed his face with needles and then painted it with ink. Sun Bin became an invalid and relied on Pang Juan every day to live his life and still felt sorry for others.
In order to repay Pang Juan's kindness, he promised to memorize 13 chapters of Sun Tzu's Art of War and write them on a bamboo tube.
Sun Bin endured the pain every day and worked desperately overtime to copy it carefully. The child servant who served him on the side couldn't stand it and told Sun Bin the truth. It was only at this point that Sun Bin came to his senses, but he was controlled by Pang Juan and could not walk, so he could only bury his hatred deep in his heart.
So he came up with a solution - acting crazy! Either he was spitting, or he was screaming with his eyes wide open. Pang Juan didn't believe him, he ordered Sun Bin to be dragged into the pigsty, Sun Bin was wearing his hair with his face uncovered, lying upside down in the feces and filth. Pang Juan was still half believing it but the guarding was much laxer than before. Later, Sun Bin took advantage of the situation and secretly met with the Qi ambassador, who secretly brought him back to Qi.
Tian Ji Horse Racing
After Sun Bin came to Qi, Tian Ji (the one who raced horses) appreciated Sun Bin's talent and sympathized with Sun Bin's misfortune and recruited him as a guest, treating him with courtesy.
At that time, a horse racing game was popular among the royal nobles of Qi. Tian Ji won fewer and lost more when he raced with King Wei of Qi. Sun Bin gave Tian Ji an idea to use the top horse against King Qi Wei's middle horse, the middle horse against King Qi Wei's lower horse, and finally the lower horse against King Qi Wei's top horse. Tian Ji realized the truth and followed the plan. As a result, Tian Ji won two matches and lost one, and won the bet of a thousand gold. This is the origin of the story of "Tian Ji's Horse Race".
In fact, to help Tian Ji in the horse race, this is a self-nomination he cast out. He was recommended by Tian Ji to King Wei of Qi through this self-nomination. King Wei of Qi thought that Sun Bin was a rare military genius, so he immediately worshipped Sun Bin as his military advisor.
In this way, Sun Bin jumped to become the leader of the army of Qi, and made his debut on the turbulent stage of the Warring States.
If you were Sun Bin, what would you do next?
