How did Xiao He die in history?

Xiao He died of illness.

In April of the 12th year of Emperor Han Cheng, Liu Bang died in Changle Palace at the age of 62. In the same year, Liu Yuxin acceded to the throne for Hui Di. Xiao He succeeded as prime minister. But at this point, Xiao He is old. During this period, based on the "three chapters" and referring to the Qin law, Xiao He extracted the contents that were in line with the social situation at that time and formulated the "Nine Chapters Laws and Orders". This is the beginning of the formulation of laws and regulations in the Han Dynasty.

Xiao He's "Nine Chapters of Han Law" deleted the complexity and harshness of Qin law and made it more concise. In BC 193, Xiao He, an elderly man, finally fell ill because he worked hard for the Han Dynasty for many years.

When he was dying, Emperor Hui of Han personally visited him and took the opportunity to ask, "Who can replace the Prime Minister in a hundred years?" Then Huidi asked, "What about Cao Can?" Hearing this, Xiao He was very ill and kowtowed to Hui Di, saying, "Your Majesty can find Cao Can as a relative. Even if I die, Xiao He will have no resentment! " Hui Di called Xiao He and posthumous title "the end of literature".

Xiao He's main achievements:

Xiao He was the "chief officer" of Peixian County, and he knew the laws and regulations of the Qin Empire like the back of his hand. After Liu Bang entered the customs, he issued a decree: "Three Chapters of Contract Law" to abolish the unreasonable harsh laws of the Qin Dynasty, while all the laws and regulations for maintaining social order were retained.

All this was done at the suggestion of Xiao He, and then the Han law was formulated according to the Qin law. From the unearthed Sleeping Tiger Bamboo Slips, it can be clearly understood that Qin law is basically used completely in Han law.
