Walking through that little river, have you ever heard that there is a girl she once came there is a flock of danding cranes gently gently fly by." This is a song that used to be popular a few years ago, describing the story of a girl who sacrificed her life to save the Danding Cranes. When I first heard the song, I wondered where the story took place, and finally read in the media that it took place in Yancheng, the "hometown" of the Danding Cranes. There are 450,000 hectares of nature reserves here, with about 400 species of birds, especially the wild Danding Cranes, which account for nearly half of the world's population, come here for the winter every year. I long for the day when I can "fly" to this place where the story is so touching and see the beautiful Danding Cranes.
Yancheng Danding Crane Reserve, known as Jiangsu Yancheng National Rare Bird Sanctuary (hereinafter referred to as the Reserve), is the only large-scale nature reserve for cranes in China's environmental protection system; it is the world's largest wintering base for the Danding Crane; and it is also the largest wetland-type reserve on the sea beach in Asia. The reserve was established on February 5, 1983, and approved by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province in the fall of 1983, it is the second hometown of Danding Cranes, a kind of rare bird in the country. 1992 September was listed as a national nature reserve by the State Council, and 1993 October was admitted by UNESCO as a member of the world's "Man and the Biosphere" conservation network. The Danding Crane is the second home of the Danding Crane, a bird of prey.
The Danding Crane Nature Reserve is an ideal place for birds to live, with its natural vegetation of reeds, rich and varied sea creatures, and the openness and quietness of the area where people rarely go. This is the first mudflat nature reserve in China. In October every year, a flock of red-crowned cranes fly here from the Zalong Nature Reserve in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, for the winter, with a maximum of more than 1,000, and a minimum of more than 300, making it the world's largest wild flock of red-crowned cranes, as well as thousands of geese and ducks.
The reserve is located in the middle of the Jiangsu Province coast, with the coastal shoals of Sheyang County as its core, and also includes part of the shoals of Ringshui County, Binhai County, Dafeng City and Dongtai City. The coastline is 582 kilometers long, with a total area of nearly 500,000 hectares and a core area of 17,300 hectares.
The mudflats where the reserve is located are affected by the oceanic climate, with a mild climate, abundant rainfall and four distinct seasons. The mudflats are crisscrossed with rivers and harbor branches, and there are many swamps. Historically, the ancient Yangtze River and the Yellow River have long entered the sea at the north and south ends of the reserve, forming the present sandbar of more than 200,000 hectares. The unique natural geographic environment harbors a great variety of wild animals and plants of the Salix family and Gramineae family. The reeds in the area are thick and green. The whole reserve is like a green blanket floating on the Yellow Sea, which is regarded by the world ecologists as a "kingdom" of birds and a model of ecological protection.
The bird species identified in the reserve account for 33% of the existing bird species in China. Among them, there are 9 species under national-level key protection and 33 species under second-level protection. Of the 227 protected species stipulated in the "Sino-Japanese Migratory Bird Protection Agreement", 160 species are found in the reserve.
Among the various rare birds in the reserve, the Grusjaponesis is the most well-known. The Grusjaponesis belongs to the order of cranes, family Craneidae, and is a rare bird on the verge of extinction in the world, and has been categorized as one of China's key protected bird species. Its young birds are early fledglings, adults have white body feathers, black tail feathers, reddish-red exposed head, most of the feathers in front of the eyes, and the back toes are small and high, and the other three toes are not on a plane. Its trachea is particularly long, and penetrated into the sternum, coiled circles, this structure is rare in birds. Since ancient times, our people love cranes, because it is beautiful, beautiful; movement elegant, free, known as the "crane", as a symbol of good luck, longevity, loyalty. Common painters have "pine and crane longevity picture", in fact, cranes do not perch on the pine trees, but often wade in the shallow swamps or fields, pecking at fish, shrimp, grass, grains and so on.
Every year in late October, the cranes fly here from the north and begin their wintering life of about 140 days. Since the establishment of the reserve, the number of wintering cranes in the area has risen year by year. There were only 288 cranes when the reserve was established, but now the number has increased to nearly 900, accounting for about 70% of the global number of wild cranes. The cranes in China's Heilongjiang Nature Reserve and Japan are gradually moving here. What is even more encouraging is that in recent years, even the whooping cranes, which are not recorded in the reserve, have more than 60 of them recruited here for wintering, which has aroused great concern and appreciation from bird experts at home and abroad.
The reserve is one of the areas rich in biodiversity, with 450 species of plants, 379 species of birds, 45 species of amphibious reptiles, 281 species of fish and 47 species of mammals. One of the national key protection of a class of wildlife are danding cranes, white-headed cranes, white cranes, white storks, black storks, Chinese autumn sand ducks, gulls, great bustards, white-shouldered eagles, golden eagles, white-tailed sea eagles, white sturgeon*** twelve, two national key protection of 67 species of wildlife, such as roe deer, black-faced spoonbills, great swans, small green-footed sandpipers, mandarin ducks, gray cranes, magpie harriers, spotted seals, and so on. The area is rich in resources and can produce more than one million quintals of reeds, more than one million tons of aquatic products and export nearly 300 tons of sandworms annually.
The establishment of the protected area nearly 15 years, made great achievements, but also pay a huge price. At the beginning of the establishment of the area, in order to prevent the vibration of the train during transportation to destroy the embryos in the eggs, two staff members hard hand holding a cardboard box stuffed with cotton wool after a few days and nights of limping, from the Heilongjiang River back to the incubation of the two Danding Crane eggs. From the first two cranes, more than 150 cranes have been bred. A crane caregiver named Xu Xiujuan gave her life at the age of 20 to rescue a crane that had fallen into the river. To commemorate this girl, who has made great contributions to the development and construction of the reserve, a snow-white statue of Xu Xiujuan stands in front of the Wanghai Hotel (a famous high-class foreign-related hotel) in Yancheng City, an old revolutionary area. At the same time, a song called "The Story of the Danding Crane" has been widely circulated in Yafu, extolling her touching deeds.
At present, the reserve has built a tall "Crane Watching Pavilion" for tourists to climb up to enjoy; in order to accelerate the artificial breeding and domestication of cranes, a "Crane Domestication and Breeding Center" has been set up; "Jiangsu Coastal Ecological Nature Museum" has collected a variety of birds, and the museum has a variety of birds, and the museum has a variety of birds. The "Jiangsu Coastal Ecological Nature Museum" collects a variety of birds and animal specimens; "special poultry farms", "sandworm breeding and processing export base", etc., have been quite a rule.
Tourists here can appreciate the Tang poem "since ancient times, the sad loneliness of autumn, I say that autumn is better than spring, a crane in the eye of the sky rows up the clouds, will lead to poetry to the blue night" mood.
The establishment of the Coastal Rare Bird Sanctuary has attracted worldwide attention. In 1985, Dr. Archibald, chairman of the International Crane Foundation, made a special trip to visit the area, and experts and scholars at home and abroad often come here for sightseeing and exchanges. At the same time, it has attracted a large number of domestic and foreign tourists, where people can enjoy the dance of the wild cranes and the wonderful performance of the domesticated cranes, as well as dancing with the cranes ****, taking pictures and leaving good wishes for a long and healthy life. There are also abundant seafood in the reserve. Tourists can pick clams in the mudflat, catch small crabs, fishing and shrimp, picnic, but also can drive to the neighboring Haidu forests, fishing villages, salt farms and other sightseeing spots, taste a variety of wild seafood. At this time, this situation, people are relaxed and happy. Stay and forget.
