"The grass by the green river, the long-distance road, the long-distance road is unthinkable, I have dreamed of seeing it in the past." What is the source of this poem?

I. Source

From the poem "Drinking Horses from the Great Wall Grottoes" written by an anonymous poet in Han Dynasty.

Second, an excerpt from the original text

The grass on the banks of the river is green, and I think of the distant road.

The faraway road is not to be thought of, but dreamed of in the past.

Dreaming of being beside me, I suddenly realized that I was in another country.

There are different counties in other places, and we do not see each other.

Third, the translation of the original excerpt

Looking at the rolling green spring grass by the river, one is reminded of the faraway conqueror.

The husband who is far away from home cannot be missed all day long, and only in dreams can we meet each other.

I see him beside me in my dreams, and then I wake up and realize that he is still away.

Other townships have different regions, and my husband can't be seen while he is wandering in another country.

Expanded Information

I. Background

This poem was first published in the Selected Writings compiled by Prince Xiao Tongyi of the Liang Dynasty in the southern part of the country, and was categorized as a poem of "Lefu - Ancient Rhetoric". The authorship of the poem has always been controversial. Li Shan's note in Wenxuan (Selected Writings) reads: "The name of the author of this poem is unknown." The Jade Terrace New Rhymes, on the other hand, attributed the poem to Cai Yong of the Han Dynasty. Contemporary people also believe that it is not related to Cai Yong, but is a folk poem that was circulated before the Eastern Han Dynasty.

Second, Appreciation

This poem is written in the first person of the woman who is thinking of herself, with the use of the technique of comparison in many places, and the language is fresh and common, with the phrases passing up and down, and the momentum is coherent, which is very distinctive. The language of the poem is short and simple, easy to understand, but with strong artistic influence. The poem is artistically original, the lyric poet's sentiment, penmanship euphemistic and colorful, completely with the lyrical protagonist's erratic thoughts and twists and turns back and forth.
