KANIA helicopters
Purposes are mainly for passenger and cargo transportation, training, search and rescue and aerial surveillance. Deliveries were made up to December 1997, with 11 on order, including 2 delivered in 1996 to the Polish Border Guard of the Ministry of the Interior, and 2 to police stations. Other users are the Czech Republic (4), Cyprus (2), and Slovakia (1).
Structural featuresThe KANIA has a three-bladed, fully articulated rotor with hydraulic pendulum reducers. The two-bladed tail stock, main and tail blades are made of fiberglass/epoxy resin. The fuselage is of conventional nacelle tail beam semi-monocoque construction with non-retractable front three-point landing gear with tail skid. The standard cockpit layout is 1 pilot and 9 passengers.
Rotor systemThe rotor with all-metal blades is fitted with hydraulic pendulum reducers. Each blade is equipped with a swing hinge, a pendulum hinge and a pitch hinge. The rotor blades and tail rotor blades are composed of extruded aluminum alloy beams, glued honeycomb structure rear section pieces. The leading edge has anti-flutter counterweights and the trailing edge has compensating tabs. Hydraulic boosters are available for longitudinal, lateral and total distance maneuvering.
The rotor and tail rotor are fitted with a serpentine tubular spring balance mechanism. The rotor cannot be folded. The rotor and tail rotor are equipped with electric anti-ice system. Rotor brakes are provided. The fuselage structure adopts the common nacelle tail beam semi-monocoque structure, and the fuselage consists of three parts: nose, center section and tail beam. The aluminum skin is attached to the fuselage beam and skeleton by gluing, spot welding or riveting. The main load-bearing joints are made of alloy steel.
The cockpit is air-conditioned and can carry one pilot and eight passengers. Two back-to-back benches, each seating three. There are two optional seats on the rear right side. For cargo, all seats are removable and the cabin can hold up to 700 kg of cargo. The ambulance-type cockpit can hold four stretchers and a seat for a medical officer or two stretchers and two seats for the wounded.
The trainer model is equipped with side-by-side seats and maneuvering system. The cockpit is equipped with standard heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, and the windshield is electrically heated to prevent ice. The cockpit is equipped with a heater. The cockpit pitch lever is used to control the pitch angle of the paddle. Non-retractable front three-point landing gear with tail brace. The front landing gear is double-wheeled and the main landing gear is single-wheeled. All landing gears are equipped with oil and gas cushion struts.
The main cushion strut is capable of withstanding normal operational loads and preventing ground *** vibration. The main wheel tires measure 600 mm x 180 mm and have an inflation pressure of 4.41 x 105 Pa. The front wheel tire size is 300 mm x 125 mm, inflation pressure is 3.45 x 105 Pa. The main wheels are equipped with pneumatic brakes. Optional metal skid type landing gear is available.
