1. Erhu: Luo Hongjun, 55 years old, is from Qichun, Hubei Province. He started playing Erhu at the age of 8 and taught himself Erhu. He was once an educated youth and a worker in a state-owned enterprise. He later resigned and went to work in the binding design and decoration advertising industry. During this period, he never stopped studying the art of piano. In early 2001, he came to Shenzhen to work as a professional street musician. During his 10 years in Shenzhen, he supported his two children in college by playing the erhu, and he is quite famous among the people in Shenzhen.
2. Dizi: Chen Jizhao, 63 years old, from Chongqing, Sichuan, was born into a family of Kuomintang officers. When he was two years old, his father was sentenced to prison for historical reasons. Due to political reasons, Chen's mother was forced to divorce her husband and start a new family. Chen Jizhao was abused in his stepfather's home. Before graduating from elementary school, he was forced to leave the campus. After that, he went to a foreign country to study under his master.
3. Lead guitarist: A Tao (Li Tao), 30 years old, native of Suqian, Jiangsu Province, born in Kashgar City, Xinjiang, and graduated from Urumqi Institute of Technology. Both parents are young people from the border areas. After his parents passed away, he went south alone to pursue his dream. He worked as a worker, company draftsman, salesperson, construction site administrator, and hotel department manager. He also ran his own shops, restaurants, and worked in bars, performing arts halls, and art troupes.
4. Rhythm guitar and singer: A Fei (Wei Yunfei), 26 years old, from Qiongzhong County, Hainan Province. He graduated from Nongken Jiachai Middle School in Qiongzhong County, Hainan Province. After being exposed to the guitar in high school, he He was so obsessed with it that he even changed from a top student in school to a poor student just to play the guitar.
After graduation, he was drafted into the army and served as a clerk in the army. After retiring from the army, he worked as a security guard for a property company in Changsha, Shenzhen and other places in Hunan. After coming into contact with some street singers in Shenzhen, he was inspired by them and embarked on the road of professional freelance musicians.
5. Bass and singer: Wei Wei, 23 years old, native of Guangxi, Yao ethnic group. He has a middle school education. Before coming to Shenzhen, he worked as a farmer at home. After coming to Shenzhen, he worked as a security guard and some odd jobs. I once went astray because it was difficult to find a job in Shenzhen and became a gangster in a small gang in society. He is the younger brother of rhythm guitarist Wei Yunfei. Although he did not know how to play an instrument before, he fell in love with the beyond band and the Tang Dynasty band due to his influence.
Usually, I like to roar some high-pitched songs that are beyond my ability. Later, because the band needed a bass player, I temporarily took on the bass position. After two years of running-in and training, he is qualified for his position. Although he is the youngest and most junior member of the band, he is very hardworking and hard-working. He often plays the bass until his fingers bleed, and sings until he loses his voice. Therefore, he is loved and respected by other members of the band.
6. Drummer: Xiao Zhibin, 26 years old, from Heyuan, Guangdong, with a middle school education. He has been obsessed with drums since he was a child and started his music career. In 2002, he started to form a band in his hometown and started in 2003. Participated in various band competitions and won the Pepsi Band Competition. In 04, he started to be a professional bar drummer and participated in the band's commercial performances.
Has rich performance experience and good stage feel, having participated in hundreds of large and small performances. He was the first drummer of the Shenzhen Poor Band and published a large number of original works with the band. He joined the Yuan Shang Cao Band in 2010. He is the third drummer of the Yuan Shang Cao Band and has been cooperating with the band to this day.
Yuan Shangcao Band is a folk band established in 2009 and has a certain influence in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province.
How the band was formed: In 2006, guitarist A Tao met Chen Jizhao, an old man who played the flute and was looking for his daughter, on the streets of Shenzhen. Seeing his skill on the flute, he was inspired by the music. Unlike the ordinary people who borrow musical instruments to beg on the street, they offered to accompany him with the guitar they brought with them. Unexpectedly, the two of them cooperated very well.
This chance encounter became an opportunity for the two of them to collaborate, and even the prelude to the birth of the band. In the next two or three years, they collaborated intermittently, and often played with the famous street violinist Luo Hongjun in Huaqiangbei. Collaboration, everyone was very interested in this method. It was not until the summer of 2009 that A Tao and another guitarist A Fei began to imagine forming a band with a complete configuration and unique style. A Fei's younger brother Wei Wei played bass and recruited Atao's friend-drummer Pan Mengjia.
Five people tried Yingwei for the first time in a small square in Shenzhen Book City. Since they had a basis for cooperation in the past and everyone had a certain understanding and grasp of folk music, they naturally got started quickly when they collaborated.
At this time, the band did not have a name. A few months later, we invited Luo Hongjun, who had often collaborated with the erhu before. Luo Hongjun was very enthusiastic about such a combination and made many suggestions to the band. He also named the band Yuan Shang Cao. This name is still in use today.
