Theme: Images for Life

Theme Explanation:

It must be admitted that in this digital age, a camera + a computer, or even just a smartphone, can create countless "miracles", and the result of the proliferation of images is inevitably that we no longer trust the images themselves.

Photography is a combination of half-science and half-art, and a sense of mystery should not be the intention of photography, but stripping away the mystery while stripping away our awe of photography itself is a folly too far.

With the development of technology and the popularization of equipment, there are more and more people taking photographs, and more and more works are being produced. Every year, during the Pingyao International Photography Exhibition, there are works of various forms and styles presented to us.

From the birth of digital photography to the present day, the act of photography has gradually become the "act" itself, and no longer has any other meaning. The function of recording history and reflecting reality that is given to "photography" is gradually being replaced by the colorful photos taken by cell phones, card machines and SLRs in the hands of the general public, and "photography" is turning into some kind of self-indulgence and a complete industry chain business. business. From the equipment and gear to the various "decorations" like "line paintings", most of the resources and vision of the photography industry have been gathered, and in this way, they influence the general public's perception of "photography".

Photography

Photography is becoming a part of the daily life of the general public, affecting all of them to a greater or lesser extent. Under such circumstances, the image of life will have multiple meanings:

How photography enters into and changes the way we look at and express the world;

How life enters into and changes the connotation and extension of photography;

What is the relationship between photography and commercial photography? p>

How photography affects us when combined with commercial consumption.

Any culture or art form expands itself by retaining its original kernel, by constantly and abundantly absorbing the needs of society and moving forward with them***.

The image toward life is, to some extent, a stripping of the mystery of photography. In recent years, there are more and more exhibitions pursuing the visual impact of large format, but forgetting the spiritual impact that photography should have, and turning the image itself into some kind of spectacle, as a way to cover up the sensitivity and freshness that authors should have when facing life.

"Images Toward Life" is, to a certain extent, the echo of the theme of the 2012 exhibition, "Return - Transcendence", and even the answer.
