(1) In the elderly who have been exercising with high intensity for a long time, their muscle mass will shrink with age, and their strength and quality will also decrease accordingly. In addition, the nervous system function gradually declined, and the cardiopulmonary ability decreased. Such physiological changes determine that the elderly should not participate in high-intensity strength exercise and long-term endurance exercise. The incidence of sports injuries of muscles, ligaments and joints in the elderly during high-intensity exercise has greatly increased. Long-term endurance exercise damages the heart and lung function of the elderly, and may even lead to cardiovascular diseases. So the elderly should be careful not to exercise for a long time.
(2) Over-excited elderly people should exercise easily and happily, and pay special attention not to exercise when they are over-excited. No matter from the aspects of physical strength, endurance, reaction ability or the function of various organs, the elderly are not suitable to participate in intense sports or competitions. Because intense sports or competitions will cause emotional excitement, the elderly are prone to accidents in sports and fitness. Therefore, the elderly should do what they can and exercise in a relaxed and happy state.
(3) Due to the decline of physiological function, the body's ability to adapt to exercise load will not be as fast as it was when it was young, so it is not advisable to act too hastily in the process of exercise and fitness, nor should the amount and intensity of exercise increase too fast. The elderly should follow the principle of "step by step and perseverance", otherwise they may suffer accidental injuries due to excessive exercise or excessive intensity.
(4) Holding your breath is a habit of many people. When you need to exert yourself, you often hold your breath and exert yourself. However, if the elderly hold their breath, the pressure in the chest cavity will suddenly increase, resulting in poor blood return and a corresponding decrease in cardiac output, which is prone to ischemic dizziness and even shock. Therefore, the elderly should avoid the habit of holding their breath when exercising, and the elderly with cardiovascular health problems should pay special attention.
(5) Competitive Some common sports are often very competitive. Participating in these activities will make the nerves excessively excited, which will easily lead to a sudden increase in heart rate and blood pressure. The sudden increase of heart rate and blood pressure in the elderly may lead to serious consequences, especially in patients with hypertension and heart disease. Therefore, the elderly should be forbidden to participate in competitive sports, and attention should be paid not to be too competitive when choosing sports.
