Where is the source of "Happy not to think of Shu"?

Looking for Shu

After the surrender of Liu Zen, the second lord of Shu, Sima Zhao hosted a banquet to entertain the guests, first with Wei music and dance in front of the theater, the Shu officials were sad, and the only one who was happy was the lord of Shu. Sima Zhao made Shu people play Shu music in front of the Shu officials are all tears, after the Lord laughed and laughed. Wine to half-heated, Sima Zhao said Jia Chong said: "The common feelings of people, and even this! Although Zhuge Kongming in, also can not assist the long full, not to mention Jiang Wei?" He asked the Lord said: "Quite think of Shu?" After the Lord said: "This is happy, do not think of Shu also."

People often forget to return to the music or music and forget the original, no thought of the old country and homeland, called "music does not think of Shu". This allusion was made in Luoyang during the Three Kingdoms period.

When the Wei army entered the Sichuan River, Liu Chan, the later lord of Shu, surrendered and was sent to Luoyang. Sima Zhao made him the Duke of Anle, gave him a residence, a monthly allowance, and a hundred servant boys and maids. As a token of his gratitude, Liu Zen made a special visit to his home, where Sima Zhao hosted a banquet and entertained him with songs and dances. When the Shu music was played, the old ministers of Shu recited the sadness of the destruction of the country and the death of the family, and all of them burst into tears. Liu Zen, however, was insensitive and smiled freely. Seeing this, Sima Zhao asked Liu Zen, "Do you miss Shu?" Liu Zen replied, "This place is very happy, I don't miss Shu." When his old minister Gu Zheng heard this, he quickly found an opportunity to whisper to him, "Your Majesty, if Sima Zhao asks you again later, you should answer in tears: 'The graves of my ancestors are far away in Shu, and there is not a single day that I don't miss them!' In this way, Sima Zhao will be able to let Your Majesty return to Shu." Liu Zen heard this and kept it in mind. When the wine was half-full, Sima Zhao really asked again, Liu Zen rushed to learn the words that Ke Zheng taught him, just want to cry without tears. Sima Zhao heard, said "Hey, how is it like the valley is said?" Liu Zen was surprised and said, "What you said is not wrong at all! Sima Zhao and his ministers laughed. Seeing that Liu Zen was so honest, Sima Zhao never suspected him again. Liu Zen spent the rest of his life in Luoyang, and passed down this hilarious story of "not thinking of Shu".

But did Liu Zen really not miss Shu at all? Under the disguise of "not thinking of Shu", Liu Zen, whenever the night is quiet and no one is around, I am afraid that more than once I have sobbed in the southwest direction! Liu Zen was an extraordinary wise man, who realized the realm of "loud voice without sound" to the extreme, and at the same time, avoided the danger of killing himself. Shakespeare said: "To play the fool well depends on talent; he must spy on the mood of the people he is making fun of, understand their identity, but also to see the right time; and then like a wild eagle that spies on every bird in front of it, not relaxing at every opportunity. It is a work as hard as the art of the clever."

After Liu Chan's demise, as the king of a fallen state, not only his own life, but also including to the happiness of the people of Shu are in the hands of others. One's own treatment directly affects the leniency of Jin's policy toward the people of Shu. Therefore, Liu Zen must pretend to be naive and foolish, hiding his own talents everywhere, in order to conceal the sky and the sea, to raise the obscurity of self-preservation. Behind the apparent numbness and cowardice, there lurked a great deal of cunning and resourcefulness. As the weakest party in the Three Kingdoms, Liu Zen was able to lead Shu for 41 years, avoiding both internal conflicts within the class and the launching of a major movement every few years, while the regime was solid. At the time when the people of the country were going to stay or go, the later lord valued the real interests of the people, rejected face politics, and reduced the needless sacrifice of life and property. His foolishness after being captured was just a bowser's juice to protect himself in a dangerous situation. If Liu Zen does not "not think of Shu" then he is afraid that he will not even have the opportunity to think of Shu later, he is indeed a superb wisdom ah!

Liu Zen (207-271), the character Gongshi, was the later lord of the Shu Han Dynasty, and served as emperor for forty-two years. In 2023, Liu Bei died of an illness, and Liu Zen succeeded him as the new emperor. The young Liu Zen honored Zhuge Liang as his father, and all the political affairs of Shu Han were under Zhuge Liang's control. Afterwards, Zhuge Liang went on a northern expedition. Liu Zen was not in favor of the northern expedition, but he could not stop Zhuge Liang. In 234 years, Zhuge Liang died of illness, Liu Chan personally dressed in plain clothes to welcome back the coffin of Zhuge Liang. In dealing with Wei Yan and Yang Yi, Liu Zen was clearly on Wei Yan's side. Seeing that Wei Yan was killed by Yang Yi's men, he immediately demoted Yang Yi to the status of a commoner and reappointed Jiang Wan as a great general. Subsequently, Jiang Wan and Fei Yi came to power, and after their deaths Jiang Wei came to power and began another northern expedition. Liu Chan watched Shu Han's demise step by step under these circumstances. In 263, Deng Ai besieged the city of Chengdu for four years, and Liu Zen opened the gates to surrender to Deng Ai, and was named Duke of Anle by Sima Zhao.

Historically, Liu Zen was not exactly a dim ruler, as he seldom gave a royal decree that was truly his own in Shu Han. But later generations have gradually vilified Liu Zen as a man who did nothing. In fact, as long as you think about it, you will understand that the Three Kingdoms period as the emperor for the longest time is Liu Zen, if he is really mediocre to the extreme, how can sit so long as the throne?

All in all, I think Liu Zen, "not thinking of Shu," is entirely the juice of the bao guang bao hui!
