Where is the source of the Shuhe River? It originated from a big river in southern Shandong at the southern foot of Yishan.

Comparing Shu River recorded in Hanshu with Atlas of Chinese History, we can infer that the source of Shu River is at the southern foot of Yishan. In ancient times, the Shuhe River first flowed into Surabaya through Suqian City and then into the Huaihe River. However, due to the two changes of the Yellow River, it no longer enters the Huaihe River, but enters the sea through other estuaries.

1. Where is the source and destination of the Shuhe River? Shuhe River is a big river in the south of Shandong Province, and it is also the main local water source. Where is its source? The sea came to the first mountain in the East? The southern foot of Yishan. Due to the two changes of the Yellow River waterway, Shuhe River is divided into new and old roads. The old river flows south through Xinyi County and finally flows into Yishui into the sea. Xinhe Road goes east along Dashahe Old Road, to Linhongkou and into the sea. The Shuhe River, with a total length of more than 400 kilometers, starts in Shandong and ends in Jiangsu, and passes through some precipitation-rich areas in Shandong, so floods often occur, which is one of the key targets of flood control in China.

Second, why does the Shuhe River no longer flow into the Huaihe River? The original river flows out from the southern foot of Yishan and flows into Huaishui together with Sishui in Suqian City. However, during the period from 1 128 to 1855, geological changes led to the southward migration of the Yellow River, and the main channel of the Huaihe River directly entered the sea. The riverbed of the Shuhe River continued to rise due to soil erosion, and the discharge of the Shuhe River decreased year by year.

After 1855, the Yellow River slowly moved northward, resulting in the abandonment of the river channel where Shuhe River flows into Huaishui, and Shuhe River no longer enters Huaishui. Thanks to the continuous management of China people, Shuhe River can now enter the sea through many rivers in Jiangsu, which greatly reduces the probability of flooding in Shuhe River and improves the safety of surrounding areas.

3. Where did the name of Shuhe come from? In ancient books, Shuhe River was originally called Shui Mu, and later it was renamed today's Shushui. Zhou Li mentioned the Shuhe River. At that time, Shu Shui and Yi Shui were mostly mentioned together. Both rivers are the most important water sources in Shandong, and once became an important factor in Shandong's agricultural development.

Shuhe River is named after its complicated river course. Shuhe? , which means a river with complicated roads, was later simply added next to the word water as a proper noun. But there are other folk rumors that Shuhe got its name because local wizards often hold magic ceremonies by the river. It may seem ironic to modern people, but in the age of witchcraft, it is a very respectful title.
