Bashu culture with the same origin and different origins
People usually refer to the culture of Sichuan basin from ancient times to the present as "Bashu culture". In fact, before the Warring States period, Ba culture and Shu culture were not a unified whole, but were Ba culture and Shu culture respectively.
Do you know the cultural relationship between Ba, Shu and Chu?
The so-called Ba culture refers to the sum of all the material culture, spiritual culture and social structure created by the royal family of Ba State and the Ba nationality in the pre-Qin period. Ba culture has its own distinctive characteristics: first, a large number of Bashu symbols are used, engraved on bronzes and seals; Secondly, the witch and ghost culture is very developed, and a remarkable witch culture circle has been formed in eastern Sichuan and western Hubei, especially in the Three Gorges area. Third, music and dance are developed, people can sing and dance well, and bronze musical instruments are special; Fourth, the beliefs of worshipping the White Tiger (Lin Junman) and fearing the White Tiger (Ban Fuman) coexist and interweave; Fifth, the soil is thick and strong, and the nature is brave; Sixth, the cultural tradition of goddess worship with a long history is the most romantic spiritual and cultural core of the Ba culture in eastern Chongqing and western Hubei.
Shu culture refers to the sum of all material culture, spiritual culture and social structure created by ancient Shu and Shu nationality. In Xia and Shang Dynasties, Yufu family defeated the family and Bailuyuan family, and merged them to form the ancient Shu family. The basic humanistic characteristics of the ancient Shu culture, which is mainly formed by the ancient Shu nationality, are: attaching importance to sacrifice, thinking in images, developed science and technology, loving music, being sensitive to gentlemen and urchins. ...
Ba culture and Shu culture, two ancient cultures with different origins, different types and different nationalities, are collectively called Bashu culture, which originated from the concept of a geographical unit, that is, they are geographically close to each other and can fully communicate, interact and even partially merge in frequent wars. Secondly, the universal unification of the economic zones of the two countries and similar folk customs have narrowed the distance between the two countries. Most importantly, during the Warring States period, Ba culture area and Shu culture area used the same script-Bashu script, which strengthened their cohesion and integration. Under the joint action of the above factors and other reasons, the Ba culture and Shu culture in the Warring States period finally merged in many aspects, forming a complete Bashu culture.
It should be pointed out that the concept of Bashu culture does not mean that there are no differences within this main culture. For example, "Huayang Guozhi Bazhi" correctly pointed out that "Ba has generals and Shu has a phase" and brilliantly pointed out the important differences between Ba culture and Shu culture. However, there are some distinctive subcultures both inside and outside the Bashu Cultural Zone in Sichuan Basin.
* * * Bachu Culture with Life Integration
Bachu culture mainly refers to the Ba culture and Chu culture which were produced in the former Ba and the later Chu areas and merged with each other. It is a national and regional culture that is half Ba and half Chu or both Ba and Chu. Bachu culture is mainly a national folk culture in this area, which was formed not earlier than the mid-Warring States period (36 BC1). From this point of view, Bachu culture can be regarded as Ba culture that absorbed a lot of Chu culture factors under the rule of Chu State.
