4. (Quoting others)

I am a patriot. Therefore I also love Chinese culture; I love Chinese culture, so I also pay close attention to the movement of Chinese wind that has been blowing up in the music world in recent years. What is Chinese style? Personally, I think Chinese style is the music style that conforms to the traditional aesthetic concepts of Chinese people. This definition may be vague, but it's much better than other hard and fast indicators. Some people say that Chinese style songs should use the pentatonic scale, but our most "Chinese" Chinese style - Peking Opera, its most flavorful is precisely those who sing the 4, 7 phrase. Some people say that Chinese style songs should use Chinese instruments, but the "Chinese" ones, such as "Liang Zhu", also use Western instruments. So the definition of "Chinese style" is by no means static.

In recent years, the Chinese style has gained popularity among fans, but does that mean it has reached a certain level of success? Obviously, compared with general pop songs, Chinese style has more of a national complex in it, and listeners have a double standard of judgment for Chinese style and other pop songs. In fact, if we analyze with a rational attitude, we will find that the level of many Chinese style songs is not as good as many ordinary pop songs. Jay Chou's recent hit "Chrysanthemum Terrace" feels a bit like an old '80s song to me, and that's only because of the excessive use of the pentatonic scale.

Perhaps it is because of this nationalist sentiment that there are now so many songs labeled as Chinese, but only a few of them really reflect the flavor of Chinese culture. However, I think "East Wind Break" is still a very good example of what really makes Chinese style popular. Personally, I think it's a great piece of work lyrically and sonically, and both combine well in terms of mood and sound. Considering the writing and technique alone, the symmetry of this lyric's sentences is better than that of "Hair Like Snow," there are several instances of skillful matching of words, and in general, there is a better combination of classical and modern beauty. Whether the piece is good or not is a subjective matter, so I won't discuss it too much here. Personally, I think this piece still expresses a kind of euphemistic and subtle mood, which is a better interpretation of the traditional Chinese aesthetic concepts. It is worth mentioning that the phrases "revisiting old haunts" and "who is playing on the pipa" do not use the pentatonic scale, which is also very effective, and some musicians should learn from this.

While it was a good start, it was a lackluster success, with none of the later Chinese compositions, including Jay's own, surpassing "East Wind Breakdown" as a whole. The lyrics of "Hair Like Snow" seem more fragmented, and the brilliant strokes don't appear as often as they do on "East"; the arrangement is clearly not as heartfelt, and the main song doesn't have the same sense of momentum. One of the netizens and I share the same feeling about "A Thousand Miles Away", which is that the chorus is too bland and lacks expressiveness - the main part is still good. A lot of people push "Jiangnan", but I think if a different title, I'm afraid no one will consider it a Chinese style; as for the rest of the works of JJ Lin, the embodiment of the Chinese style are also stuck in the words, and occasionally in the prelude with a little bit of Chinese instrumentation against the sudden. Wang Leehom boasts a combination of Chinese culture and hip-hop, but I feel that his music between the two is still inclined to hop-hop, a bit of Western learning for the body of the middle school for the use of the feeling, some works such as "in the plum side", "Gai Shi Heroes" and even give a person a sense of incongruity. After the string flaunted Chinese style also flaunted great, his music is very personalized, but see the Chinese style of the **** sex. In fact, a lot of what we call "Chinese style" nowadays can be dismissed as "pseudo-Chinese style", but netizens don't seem to be able to tell the difference.

Also, almost all of the musicians now labeling themselves as Chinese have a tendency to use "Chinese style" as a hype gimmick. This tendency can be seen in the titles of these Chinese-style songs: "East Wind Break", "West Wing", "Kunming Lake" - such song titles, as well as the content of the lyrics, give people the feeling of moaning and groaning, and very much "for the sake of giving new words to express their sorrows" flavor. On the contrary, those who do not boast Chinese style have some very Chinese flavor songs, like "Ningxia" (Fish Leung), "Knowing or not knowing" (Liu Ruoying), "Invisible Wings" (Zhang Shaohan). It seems that ancient Chinese style tunes, ancient Chinese style lyrics, and ancient Chinese style stories are not indispensable. I do think the purpose of promoting Chinese music can be better achieved by matching Chinese style music with those popular themes. Anyway, for the healthy development of Chinese style and for Chinese culture to be loved by people in the contemporary era, I hope music fans and musicians can grasp what Chinese style is, and I also hope that musicians will not "give new words to express their sorrows" and make up words like "east wind breaks".

He also hoped that musicians would stop making up words like "east wind breaks".
