What is the Funk style

When hip-hop was popular in the 1980s, the media often used the term inaccurately "Breakdancing" and using it as a general term for other styles of street dance they see. But many people don't know that there are so many other styles and other subsidiary cultures, as well as the characteristics of other styles.

Accurately, breakdancing or B-boying is what the media calls it. It originated from the West Coast of the United States and is deeply influenced by break beats and hip hop. The term "funk style" indicates that the characteristics of our style have separated from hip-hop. Popping, Locking and Boogaloo were established on the West Coast of the United States during the funk era. Still should be considered pure Funk, hence the term, "Funk style"

( Popin Jay Tip: Funk style should include Popping, Locking and Boogaloo)

( Popin Jay: Boogaloo is the name for the West Coast of the United States, and "Boogie" for the East Coast. They are the same)

The birth of Popping and Boogaloo styles

In a small city called Fresno, California, I lived in with a shy boy named Sam. Inspired by watching the original Locker demonstration on television, in 1975 Sam began innovating the move that later became known as the boogaloo or boogie.

The name comes from the old James Brown song "Do the boogalss". When Sam was dancing in the room one day, his uncle said, "Boy, do that boogaloo!" Confused Sam asked his uncle, "What's boogaloo?" .

"That means you re gettin down (that means what you are doing)" his uncle replied. From that day on he was known as Boogaloo Sam.

Not many people are short of what Boogaloo is and what it means. How to do it. Boogaloo is a non-fixed, changeable style that uses every part of the body. It involves using angles and integrated movements to make all the

actions flow together. Often roll the hips, knees, and head. Make your legs do weird moves and cover a lot of space on stage with WalkOuts and in-place transitions. Although it is described as flowing, please remember that it is different from the wave style!

Popping is another style created by Sam. People are never confused about what style it is. It is thought to be an amalgamation or umbrella term for all styles that came from funk action (1870s California). not really. Popping is a style in itself. It involves leg pop and tightening your muscles to create a jerky pop. Effect (jerky/snapping effect) Popping is just a style. It is not a general term for funk style. If you pop, then you are a popper. If you wave, then you are a waver. If you Boogaloo, then you are a boogalooer, etc.

When Sam dances Muscle Pop (Muscle Pop=Pop) he says "pop" and when they imitate the robot it's like someone is making machine noise. Sam would say "pop, pop, pop." People often say to him "Hey do that popping stuff! (Hey, imitate that popping material robot)"

Many, many people ask what Electric Boogaloo style is. Electric Boogaloo style is popping plus boogaloo style. These two styles complemented each other and became the trump card that made EB popular all over the world.

Other Styles

While Sam was creating popping and boogaloo, other styles were being created and developed in their own way, and other areas of the West Coast were also creating their own styles. Styles are known to the world, and they all have their own profound histories. These areas include Oakland (Westport, California, USA), Sacramento (Capital of California, USA), and San Francisco.
