The Illuminations of Hong Kong is a famous laser music show in Hong Kong. It is organized by 44 skyscrapers and landmarks on both sides of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour***. Through interactive lighting and music effects, it shows the dynamic and colorful side of Victoria Harbour.
Introduction to Illuminations
Illuminations is Hong Kong's famous laser light and music show. It is the largest light and music show in the world. It consists of 47 skyscrapers and landmarks located on both sides of Victoria Harbor, Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula. Every night at 8:00 pm, you can see the city buildings on both sides of the Victoria Harbour transformed into a sound and light stage intertwined with neon lights and music, showcasing Hong Kong's glittering night colors. Magic lights from each building illuminate the sky over Victoria Harbour, complemented by music and narration. It is dreamy, gorgeous and full of impact, giving you a deeper understanding of the beauty of Hong Kong.
Sound and Light Show
The sound and light show starts at 8pm every night and lasts for about 13 minutes. During these 13 minutes, you can watch the show for free on both sides of Victoria Harbor. The best places to watch the show are from the Avenue of Stars to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront outside the Hong Kong Cultural Center, the waterfront promenade at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai, or the sightseeing ferries in Victoria Harbour. The music and narration of Symphony of Lights can be heard live at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade and the Promenade at Golden Bauhinia Square. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, next to English, Mandarin narration is played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and Cantonese on Sundays. Weekday set shows typically have five segments. You can watch the gradient effects of colored lights on the building's facade, lasers and probe lights dancing in the dark, and kaleidoscopic rotating light patterns in a multitude of colors.

Special Festive Days
For special festivals, fireworks can also be seen from the rooftops and the sea. Every year since late 2007, the "Illuminations of Hong Kong" has expanded into a major New Year's Eve countdown event, starting at 23:40 on December 31 with the regular light show. In the last 20 seconds before the New Year, the 420-meter-high Two International Finance Center will start a fireworks display. As the countdown progresses, fireworks will be cascaded down the sides of the building, accompanied by flashing laser detectors. At Ground Zero, just in time for New Year's Day, the building's seven-color fireworks are set off at the same time as the brilliant fireworks from 16 skyscrapers near the harbor. The countdown ends with a two-minute fireworks show, which is very nice to watch and very impressive.
