How did Spanish style dance come about?

Spanish-style dance is a new dance that emerged along with missionary activities after the Spanish occupied this land in the 16th century. This type of dance has Christian overtones and is a Western dance that is completely different from traditional Filipino dance. The dancers are almost monks who adopt local traditional performance forms and perform Spanish dances and various European dances in the monastery or in the square. Affected by this, some people in the Philippines gradually gave up their dance traditions and imitated Spanish dances. As a result, the native dances lost their original and wild wildness and became more characteristic of Spanish dances.
