The story of the snowman

The Snowman by Danish writer Andersen;

The hero snowman stood in the courtyard of a manor, watching the sun set and the moon rise. He is only one day old, naive and inexperienced. His only companion-a watchdog warned him that the sun would turn him into water. When it noticed that the weather was getting worse, it went back to sleep in the kennel.

The snowman saw the stove in the house through the window. He thinks the stove is a woman. He fell in love with the stove. He wanted to go into the house with the stove, but the watchdog warned him that it would melt.

All day, the snowman stared at the stove. At night, the stove suddenly caught fire. Whenever the door is opened, the flame jumps out of the stove and the fire shines on the snowman's face and chest. The snowman is very happy. The next morning, the window was covered with frost and the snowman couldn't see the stove. He is lovesick. He doesn't like cold weather.

The watchdog warned the snowman that the weather would change soon. It snowed. One morning, the snowman collapsed. The watchdog found a poker in the wreckage of the snowman, so it understood why the snowman longed to be with the stove.

Extended data:

Andersen's Snowman was first published by C.A.Reitzel Publishing House in Copenhagen on March 2nd, 186 1 as a supplement to Fir Tree published in February, 1844. At that time, people described it as a bitter story full of feelings.

Jackie Wullschlager (J.W.), a biographer of Andersen, believes that the story of "Snowman" stems in part from Andersen's love and dissatisfaction with Haraald Scharff, a handsome young ballerina at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.

Andersen wrote more than 160 fairy tales in his life, and his works were translated into more than 80 languages. His works reflect the miserable life of the poor with wonderful fantasy, profound wisdom and humorous satire, satirize the fatuity and flattery of the rulers and their vassals, laugh at the ignorance and femininity of the rich, and praise the ideals and beliefs of truth, goodness and beauty, which have been deeply loved by children and adults all over the world for more than 100 years.
