Inspiration ?

Since the release of "90,000 Words", I have received many questions, compliments, and private messages about the lyrics, or wanting to discuss them with me. In the early days, my mental capacity was too low, I saw some skepticism and replied a few times, and also sent a simple explanation of the lyrics, and then for a long time, when someone discussed the song with me again, I just ignored it, and the explanation of the lyrics was also deleted.

Don't like to annotate my lyrics. To me, lyrics aren't essays or novels, there's no right answer, what's important is just how you feel in that moment when the intention it expresses is mapped onto yourself. I think the expression should have ended the moment I finished the lyrics, and it's none of my business how others want to interpret them later.

Until today, I received a private message, TA said exactly what I was thinking at the time of writing, and suddenly felt a sense of sympathy. I don't want to let down my longtime favorite, so I'll take this opportunity to explain a few of the places where people are more likely to have doubts. (My explanations only represent my own feelings about writing, and are not to be used as correct answers.)

① "Juvenile enthusiasm": Although I often make typos, this is not enthusiasm, but warm sincerity.

② "I am also counted as ten thousand kinds of flavor, really not a good person. Who can be fortunate, wrongly paid for life." : I said a long time ago that this song at least at the time I wrote it, the concept of thinking is not ancient style. The reason why I quoted "When the daughter of the best dancer in the neighborhood dies, there should be a heavy snowfall in the capital" is because in this line I read a sense of resignation and powerlessness in the face of destiny in a chaotic world, which is in line with what I want to express in the lyrics. The story in my mind is probably like the previously edited "The Thirteen Haircuts of the Golden Horse", which takes place in the stormy Republic of China. The "I" in the song could be a singer, a dancer, or any woman who has no choice but to live her life. Because "I" is a sensible and gentle woman, it is a good fortune to fall in love with "I"; but because "I" has such a destiny and life, it is a good fortune to fall in love with "I". "But because of my destiny and life, it is a mistake to fall in love with me. In the expression of a more contradictory and entangled emotions.

③ "Who is not dead and looking for life, close to the end of the close to the long life, sleep countless times in the self-sacrifice." : This paragraph was inspired by a friend of mine's account of how Ta felt during a period of depression. Wanting to die and wanting to live, almost dying was just as painful as having to keep living. It's like the "me" in the song story, living every day in this depressing and suffocating tangle, only daring to cut myself countless times in my dreams.

④ "Each in his own colorful way." -- Each to his own colorful and beautiful life, still not a typo for 'divergent'.

In my humble opinion, the word "lyrics" has a "song" in front of the word "lyrics". "Lyrics" has a "song" in front of it, and its mission is to follow the mood of the melody in addition to expressing the emotion. When I first got this song, the first feeling was "aggrieved", "entangled" and "powerless", so I used a lot of scenery, objects and feelings to interpret such emotions. A few of the more confusing places have been explained, and from now on there will be no written explanations of the lyrics.

Some digression. There are a lot of people who, once they find the lyrics unintelligible, like to rail against the idea of "putting words together to rhyme". I'd like to say that everyone's environment and exposure to knowledge from childhood is not exactly the same, and very few people are truly knowledgeable enough to be proficient in all areas of the concept. So sometimes "I don't get it" is probably due to the different experience of the creator or the different fields of knowledge they have been exposed to.

I'm sure that many of you who have submitted lyrics to Wanxiangfanyin that have not been adopted have received the reply "the overall feeling is not quite what we need". Because I always believe that there is no "good" or "bad" in artistic creation, ballads, oldies, world music, square dances, each has its own era and the people who can get comfort from it, as long as the creation is legitimate and not plagiarized, even if it can't be understood, it deserves to be respected. As long as the creation is legitimate and not plagiarized, even if it cannot be understood, it deserves to be respected.

Finally, I'd like to quote a line from the song "Return": "Through the void of infinity, just to find, similar souls". It's hard to find a soulmate in life, so thank you.
