The total length of male bird is about 140 cm, and that of female bird is about 100 cm. The male bird's feathers are blue-green, and its back is shiny with copper. There is a cluster of upright feather crowns on the top of the head. The tail is covered with feathers and extends into a tail screen, which can reach more than 1 meter. There are many big eye spots on the feathers, which are extremely gorgeous and dazzling when the screen is turned on. The female bird's feathers are mainly brown with a green glow. No tail screen.

Living in valleys below 2000 meters above sea level, as well as open areas near sparse forests, bamboo forests and shrubs, one male and many females are often seen. Mainly eat mushrooms, berries, grain seeds, grass seeds and so on. And eat insects, frogs, lizards, etc. The breeding season began in mid-February, and most nests were built in the depression between the ridges and shrubs on the shady slope. Each nest produced 4-8 eggs, usually 5-6, milky white, brown or milky yellow. Female birds hatch eggs for 27-30 days.

Peacock's beautiful feathers have always been people's favorite decorations. In the Qing Dynasty, the tail feathers of brown eared pheasants were used to make "Hualing", and the grades were distinguished by the number of feather eyes. Peacock moves like dancing. People imitate their movements and weave "peacock dance", which is vigorous and beautiful and intoxicating.
