Have you ever seen a stray dog or cat that worked very hard to make a home for itself?

I remember it was a winter vacation in college, watching a movie at night to go home, and it was drizzling, a long-haired stray dog followed me silently all the way, about three meters away. I had some fried chicken in my hand and fed it, but it wouldn't eat it either. It came all the way downstairs to my house, which is about 1,000 meters away. Next, I have to go upstairs, my house is on the 7th floor of a walk-up house, no elevator. I don't intend to keep it because it's too dirty on rainy days with long hair, the whole stomach is dirty, and it seems to be ground up (I have to say that the adoption thing is mainly based on the face value) Secondly, I'm in college, and my mom won't keep it.

But, I told myself that if it followed me up the stairs, I would take it in and at least help it through the night.

As it turned out, it did follow me upstairs. Seven floors, ah, naturally keeping a distance of three meters from me, not getting any closer, not going any farther.

Until our door was up, I opened it and it peered at me with its head down, humble and cautious eyes, as if waiting for my permission. It wouldn't come in or go downstairs. So I said to him, "Come in," and he seemed to understand, and entered my home with aplomb, I guess this is a dog with an owner, lost or abandoned. The whole time he was polite and tried not to be obnoxious. Stray animals know how to read people and lower their eyebrows, and I still can't forget that look after all these years.

Because it was so dirty, my mom told it to go into the restroom, and it actually went in obediently, and my mom immediately gave it a bath. It was particularly calm when bathing, standing still, not at all resistant, in the bath, only to find that its nipples are very red and very big, the stomach is particularly large, only to realize that it is a soon-to-be-mother's dog. When we touched its belly, it was not aggressive and did not hide, so we could see that it trusted us very much. I washed and blew-dried it, then brought it some fried chicken to eat, and it ate it with great relish, but it was still very disciplined in my house, not pulling or sleeping, so my mom took some old clothes and put them on the bed for it, and it slept peacefully.

After a few days of keeping the dog, I didn't know how to find an adopter or help it find an owner, and the internet is not as advanced as it is now. In the end, the dog was taken to the countryside by my mom's classmate, and her family had a yard and grass, and the dog lived happily.

Thanks to the mutual trust, it finally has a home.

Added: The dog is still around now, and I have a chance to take pictures and share them. The thing about pregnant dogs eating chicken bones: there is no such thing as a chemical puppy. Pregnant animals, especially small size, is not recommended to eat very difficult to digest food, may trigger miscarriage. Chicken, duck, and poultry bones all fall into the hard-to-digest category, though. Chickens and ducks that are now released from feedlots in less than 2 months have very loose bones and no longer have this problem.
