Undergraduate major of Peking University University of the Arts

At present, Peking University Art College has set up three undergraduate majors.

Major 1: Drama, Film and Television Literature

Film and television art is a new art relying on modern media, which has great social and cultural influence. It integrates many frontier science and technology, humanities and all aspects of social life, and has a very broad development prospect.

The direction of drama, film and television literature cultivates high-end talents in the fields of drama, film and television, such as creative planning, screenwriter and director, and production management.

The undergraduate professional education of drama, film and television literature has the characteristics of paying equal attention to theoretical research and film and television practice. Relying on Peking University's strong advantages in humanities, connecting and carrying forward China's long-standing cultural and artistic traditions, drawing on the advanced experience of foreign film and television education, attaching importance to basic theory, academic innovation and practical application, carrying out open, society-oriented and future-oriented teaching, and mainly cultivating senior practical talents in film and television research and teaching.

The main professional courses offered are: artistic principle, aesthetic principle, film introduction, TV introduction, drama art introduction, performance theory and practice, world film history, China film history, film analysis, film director, film screenwriter, audio-visual language, film programming, film shooting, nonlinear editing, film management, film music and so on.

Major 2: Art History Theory

Art is a new discipline, which covers art, music, film and television, drama, dance and design on the one hand, and historical theory, criticism and management on the other. Relying on Peking University's excellent humanistic environment and artistic foundation, the art major aims to cultivate high-end comprehensive professionals in art history, art criticism and art management. The first two years are the basic learning stage, with large classes teaching and systematic study of professional basic knowledge, and the last two years are the study in different directions, and they enter the professional deepening stage under the guidance of tutors. After graduation, students have the opportunity to pursue master's and doctoral degrees, enter higher-level professional research, and enter institutions of higher learning and art institutions to engage in theoretical research and teaching. Students who choose to work after graduation can engage in artistic creation, planning, criticism and management.

The main professional courses offered are: introduction to all kinds of art, art history, art philosophy, art psychology, art sociology, art economics, art management, art history and art criticism.

Major 3: Cultural Industry Management

The direction of cultural industry management cultivates comprehensive and expanding talents such as project planning, marketing and enterprise management of cultural industry.
