Yang Liping, born on November 10, 1958 in Eryuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, aged 64 in 2023, is a Chinese mainland female dancer, dancer, national-level performer, recipient of the State Council's "Government Special Allowance", member of the Expert Committee of the Chinese National Folk Dance Level Examination, and vice-chairman of the Chinese Dancers Association. She is a member of the Expert Committee of the China National Folk Dance Grade Examination and vice-chairman of the China Dancers' Association.
In 1971, she joined the Xishuangbanna State Song and Dance Troupe, then transferred to the Central Folk Song and Dance Troupe, and became famous for her Peacock Dance. 1992, she became the first mainland Chinese dancer to perform in Taiwan, and in 1994, her solo dance, "The Spirit of the Sparrow," was awarded the Gold Medal for the 20th Century Dance Classics of the Chinese Nationalities. In 2009, she achieved success with the sister piece of "Reflections of Yunnan", "The Sound of Yunnan", and became the first dancer in China to organize a solo dance party.

August 2020, she participated in the twelfth episode of Zhejiang TV's variety show "Youth Around the World Season 2"; on September 29, Yang Liping's folk musical "Peng Looking for a Golden Flower" was premiered in Dali, Yunnan Province.
On April 21, 2021, Yang Liping was awarded the letter of appointment by Wang Qiyang, Secretary of Jingmen Municipal Party Committee, as "Literary and Artistic Consultant of Jingmen City", and was appointed as the consultant and chief director of "Jingchu Reflection" scenic spot, and created Jingchu Reflection-themed stage play.
