<The Frog Prince> in the ancient times of the distant, the beautiful wishes of the people's hearts can often become a reality. There was once a king in those mesmerizing times. The king had several daughters, all very beautiful; especially his youngest daughter, is as beautiful as heaven, even the sun, every time she shines in her face, are surprised at her beauty.

Near the king's palace was a great dark forest. Under an old linden tree in this forest there was a pool of water which was very deep. In the heat of the day, the little princess used to come to this forest and sit by the cool pool of water. When she was bored sitting there, she took out a golden ball, threw it into the air, and then caught it in her hand. This became her favorite game.

Unfortunately, one time, the little princess stretched out her two little hands to catch the golden ball, but the ball did not fall into her hands, but fell to the ground, and rolled into the pool of water at once. The little princess stared at the golden ball, but the ball suddenly disappeared in the pool of water. Because the water in the pool was so deep that she could not see the bottom, the little princess cried, and her cries became louder and louder, and she cried so sadly. As she cried, she suddenly heard someone say, "Oh, Princess, what's wrong with you? Even a stone would be hurt if you bawled like that." Hearing this, the little princess looked around, trying to figure out where the voice came from, but unexpectedly found a frog, from the water out of his big ugly fat head.

"Ah! So it's you, swimmer," said the little princess to the frog, "I'm crying here because my golden ball fell into the puddle."

"Well, don't be sad, don't cry," replied the frog, "I have a way to help you. If I help you to fish out your golden ball, what will you give me in return?"

"My dear frog, you can have anything you want," replied the little princess, "my clothes, my pearls and precious stones, and even this golden crown I wear on my head."

Hearing this, the frog said to the little princess, "I don't want any of your clothes, your pearls, your precious stones, or your golden crown. But if you like me, and let me be your good friend, and we will play together, and let me sit at the same table with you when we eat, and eat from your little golden plates, and drink from your little goblets, and let me sleep in your little bed at night; and if you will promise all this, I will dive down into the puddle of water, and fetch out your golden balls."

"Yes, wonderful," said the little princess, "if you will fish out my golden ball, I will agree to everything you ask." Though the little princess said this, she thought in her heart, "This frog is so silly, talking all kinds of nonsense! He only deserves to squat in the waterhole and croak with the other frogs, how can he be a good friend to people?"

After getting the promise from the little princess, the frog stuck his head into the water and dived into the pool. After a short while, the frog surfaced with a golden ball in its mouth, and then spat it out on the grass. The little princess saw her favorite toy again, and she was very happy. She picked up the golden ball and ran away.

"Don't run! Don't run!" The frog shouted, "Take me with you! I can't run as fast as you."

Even though the frog was screaming at the top of his lungs, it was no use. The princess simply ignored the frog's cries and ran straight home, quickly forgetting all about the poor frog. The frog had to jump and go back to the waterhole.

The next day, the princess had just sat down at the table with the king and the ministers, and had just begun to eat from her little golden plate, when suddenly she heard a popping sound. With the sound, something jumped up the marble steps, and when it reached the door, it knocked and yelled, "Little Princess, open the door!" Hearing the shout, the little princess rushed to the door to see who was shouting outside. When she opened the door, it turned out to be the frog, who was squatting in front of the door. Seeing that it was the frog, the little princess slammed the door shut and turned around to hurry back to her seat, terrified in her heart. The king noticed that the little princess looked distraught, so he asked her:

"My child, why are you so frightened? It is not true that there is a giant outside the door who is trying to take you away, is it?"

"Ah, no," replied the little princess, "not any giant, but a nasty frog." "What does the frog want with you?"

"Alas! My good father, yesterday I went into the forest. While sitting by the waterhole and playing, the golden ball fell into the waterhole, so I cried. I cried so much that the frog fetched the golden ball for me. Because the frog asked me to be his friend, I said yes, but I didn't think for a moment that he would climb out of the pool and come all the way here. Now he is outside the door, and wants to come up to us." While he was talking, he heard a knock at the door, and then a loud cry:

"My love, little princess,

open the door quickly!

The one who loves you has come,

Open the door quickly!

You won't forget that yesterday,

by the pool of water under the old linden tree,

the deep water of the pool, where the ball is missing,

it was you who made the promise."

When the king heard this, he said to the little princess, "You must not go back on your word; go and open the door and let him in." And the little princess went and opened the door, and the frog came bounding in, and then followed the little princess to her seat, and then cried out, "Carry me to you!"

The little princess trembled with fear, but the king commanded her to do as the frog said. The frog was put on a chair, but he was not very happy and wanted to go to the table. When he got to the table, he said, "Push your little golden plate over a little, will you? Then we can all eat at once." Obviously, the little princess was very reluctant to do so, but she pushed the golden plate over. The frog ate with great relish, but the princess had no appetite at all. Finally, the frog said, "I'm full. Now I am a little tired, so please carry me to your little bedroom, spread your satin coverlet, and then let us go to bed."

The little princess was so afraid of this cold frog that she didn't even dare to touch him. As soon as she heard that he was going to sleep in her neat and pretty little bed, she burst into tears.

When the king saw the little princess like this, he said to her angrily, "Whoever helped us in our time of trouble should not be despised afterward, no matter who he is."

So the little princess took the frog hostage in her two delicate fingers, and led him upstairs and put him in a corner of her bedroom. But just as she lay down on the bed, the frog crawled over to her and said, "I'm tired, and I want to sleep on the bed, too.

Please carry me up, or I will tell your father."

At these words, the little princess burst into a rage, grabbed the frog and slammed it dead center against the wall.

"Now go to sleep if you want to, you ugly nuisance!"

Who knew that as soon as he hit the ground, he was no longer any frog, but all of a sudden turned into a prince: a prince with two eyes and a smile on his face. It was only then that the prince told the little princess that he had been enchanted by a cruel witch, and that no one but the little princess could free him from the waterhole. So, by the king's will, he became the little princess's intimate friend and companion, and tomorrow, together, they would return to his kingdom. The next morning, as the sun climbed over the mountains, a great carriage drawn by eight horses had pulled up to the door, with white feathers sticking out of all their heads and swaying, and with golden harnesses over their bodies. At the back of the carriage stood the prince's servant, the faithful Henry. Henry was so grief-stricken after his master was turned into a frog that he put three iron bands around his chest, lest his heart be broken by grief.

The carriage came to take the young prince back to his kingdom. Faithful Henry helped his master and his consort into the carriage, and then stood himself up again at the back of it. They had not gone far on the road when suddenly they heard a crackling sound, as if something had broken. On the road, the crackling sound was heard again and again, and every time the prince and the princess heard it, they thought that something in the car had broken. In fact, it was not, the faithful Henry saw his master so happy, and thus felt ecstatic, so that the iron hoops crumbled off his chest one after another.

<Cat and Mouse Partnership> There was a cat who knew a mouse, and talked to it about how much he liked the mouse, and intended to make friends with it, so that the mouse finally agreed to live with the cat and **** with it. "We must prepare for the winter, or we shall starve in the winter," said the cat; "and as for you, my little mouse, don't go anywhere; I am really afraid you will get caught in some mouse trap." The mouse took the cat's good advice, and so they bought a tin of lard, yet neither knew where to put it. They thought left and right, and at last the cat said, "I think the lard would be perfect for the church, for no one would dare to steal from the church. We will hide the lard under the altar and never touch it until we have to." And so the jar of lard was put in a safe place. But it was not long before the cat began to crave the lard and said to the mouse, "Little mouse, I want to tell you something. My cousin has just given birth to a little baby, and has asked me to be the little baby's godmother. That little baby is all snow white with some brown spots. I'm going to hold it and get it baptized, so I'm going to be out for a bit today, so you'll be home alone to watch the house, okay?" "Yes, yes," said the mouse, "go ahead. And if there's anything good to eat, do remember me. I'd love to try a little of the claret that was used at the christening." None of this was true, of course, for the cat had no cousin, nor had it been asked to be a godmother. It went straight to the church, sneaked up to the lard jar, and began to lick and lick and lick the top layer of lard. Then he took a walk on the rooftops of the town to try his luck at something else; then he lay down and sunned himself. Whenever he thought of the lard, he could not help licking his lips. It waited until dark before going home. "Ah, you are back at last," said the mouse; "it must have been a good day?" "Everything went well." The cat replied. "What did you name the boy?" "No Top!" Cat said coldly. "No Top!" The mouse yelped, "That's an odd name that doesn't come along very often. Do you often have names like that in your family?" "What's that?" The cat said, "No worse than those godchildren of yours called something like 'Crumb Stealer'?"

It wasn't long before the cat wanted lard again. It said to the mouse, "You've got to do me a favor and watch the house all by yourself again. I've been asked to be a godmother again, and with a white ring around this child's neck, I just can't resist." The kindly mouse agreed. The cat slipped into the church from behind the walls and ate half a jar of lard in one gulp. "Nothing is better than eating it in your own mouth," it said, feeling inwardly satisfied with the day's harvest. When it reached home, the mouse asked, "What is the name of this child?" "Half-eaten," answered the cat. "Half eaten! What are you talking about? I've never heard a name like that in all my life. I'll bet it's the almanac that doesn't have such a name!"

Soon the cat's mouth began to salivate again, wanting to lick the lard again.

"Good things come in threes," he said, "and I've been asked to be godmother again. This child is all black except for its paws, which are white, and doesn't even have a single white hair. It's the sort of thing that happens for years; surely you'd agree to my going, wouldn't you?" "No more tops! Half eaten!" The mouse replied, "Those are strange names! I just can't figure it out." "You don't go out in the daytime," said the cat, "and you sit at home all day in your dark gray fur coat and your long tail, thinking away, so of course you can't figure it out!" While the cat was away, the mouse cleaned the house and put things away neatly. But the greedy cat ate all the leftover lard. "One can only feel safe if one eats everything clean," it said to itself. It ate until it was dark and then went home with a round belly. The mouse saw it coming back and immediately asked it what it had named this third child. "You won't like that name either," said the cat; "it is called 'Eat it all'." "Eat it all!" Mouse yelped, "That's a puzzling name! I've never seen it in a book before. Eat it all! What does that mean?" It shook its head, curled up, and lay down to sleep.

From then on, the cat was never asked to be a godmother again. But winter came, and there was no longer any food to be found outside. The mouse thought of what they had prepared for the winter and said, "Come on, cat! Let's go and fetch the stored lard. We can have a nice meal." "Yes," replied the cat, "that would surely make you as pretty as sticking your pointy tongue out the window to drink the northwest wind." They set out for the church, but when they got there they saw that the lard can was still there, but it was empty. "Good heavens!" The mouse said, "I finally understand what's going on now! You're quite a friend! You ate all this lard while you were off being some kind of godmother! First you ate the top layer, then half of it, and finally ......" "You shut up!" The cat yelled, "If you keep nagging, I'll eat you too!" "...... eat it all," snapped the poor mouse. No sooner had it finished its sentence than the cat pounced on it, grabbed it, and swallowed it. Such is the way of the world

The Child of the Virgin There lived a woodcutter and his wife at the edge of the great forest. They had only one child, a three-year-old girl. But they were so poor that they didn't even have bread to eat every day, much less know what to feed their child. One morning the woodcutter went into the forest to cut wood with a sad face, when suddenly there appeared before him a tall, beautiful woman with a crown on her head adorned with twinkling stars. She said to the woodcutter, "I am the mother of Jesus, the Virgin Mary. You are poor and in need of help. Give me your child. I will take her and be her mother and take good care of her." The woodcutter obeyed her and brought the child and gave her to the Virgin Mary. The Virgin Mary took the child to heaven. The child lived comfortably in heaven, eating sugar cookies, drinking sweet milk, wearing golden clothes, and playing with cherubs. When she reached the age of fourteen, the Blessed Virgin Mary called her to her one day and said to her, "Dear child, I am going on a journey. Here are the keys to the thirteen gates of heaven, which are in your keeping. You can open twelve of these doors and see the beauty inside. This little key opens the thirteenth door, but you must not open that door, or you will meet with misfortune." The little girl promised to be sure to listen to the Virgin Mary. When the Virgin Mary had gone, she began to visit the heavenly dwellings. She opened one door each day until she had opened all twelve doors. She saw that in each door sat a disciple of Jesus, surrounded by a splendor of light. This glorious sight made her rejoice and pleased the cherubs who accompanied her day and night. Now all that remained was the door which was forbidden to be opened. She was very anxious to know what was hidden behind this door, and said to the angels, "I will not open the door all the way, nor will I go in. I just want to open it a crack so that we can all see what is inside." "Ah, no," said the cherubim, "that would be a sin. The Blessed Virgin Mary forbids you to open it, and you may be liable to misfortune if you disobey." When she heard this she said nothing, but the desire of her heart did not disappear, but tormented her incessantly, so that she could not have a moment's peace. Once, when the angels had all gone out, she thought, "I am the only one now who can go in and have a look. I don't think anyone will know." She found the key, and as soon as she had it in her hand she *** the lock-hole, and as soon as she *** the lock-hole she turned it, and the door opened at once. She saw inside, amidst the fire and light, the "Trinity". She stood there, looking at everything in amazement, and then touched the fire with her finger, which immediately turned to gold. She was instantly terrified, slammed the door and fled. But no matter what she tried, she could not get rid of her fear. Her heart was always pounding, and she could not be still, and the gold on her finger could not be removed, whether she wiped it or washed it, it was still there.

The Virgin Mary soon returned from her trip. She called the little girl to her and asked her for the key to return to heaven. As she handed over the key, the Virgin Mary stared into her eyes and asked, "You didn't open the thirteenth door, did you?" "No." The little girl replied. Our Lady put her hand on the little girl's heart, felt her heart beating hard, and immediately understood that she had not obeyed and knew that she had opened that door. So Our Lady asked again, "Is it true that you have not opened that door?" "No." The little girl answered a second time. At this point, Our Lady saw the little girl's fingers that had turned to gold because she had touched the heavenly fire, and knowing that she had sinned, she asked her a third time, "You really haven't?" "No." The little girl said for the third time. The Virgin Mary said, "You have not listened to me and you have lied. You don't deserve to live in heaven any longer."

The little girl drifted off to sleep. When she awoke, she found herself lying in a wilderness on earth. She tried to scream, but she could not make any sound. She stood up and tried to run away, but found that no matter which way she went, there were always dense thorn bushes blocking her way, and she couldn't get past them. In the wasteland that surrounded her stood an old hollow tree, and this became her home. When night came, she climbed into the hollow of the tree and slept in it. When it rained and blew, she hid in it. This life was very miserable. Whenever she thought of her happy life in heaven and of playing with her little angels, she would cry sadly. Grass roots and wild fruits were her only food, and these she still had to work hard to find. When fall came, she picked up the walnuts and leaves that had fallen to the ground and carried them into the hole. These walnuts were her winter food, and on snowy, cold days she had to crawl into those leaves like a poor little animal to keep from freezing to death. Soon her clothes were torn and falling off piece by piece. When the sun shone warmly again, she crawled out and sat in front of the tree. Her long hair was like a cloak that covered her whole body. She sat there like this, year after year, feeling the misery and misfortune of the world
