Yang Liping, born on November 10, 1958 in Yunnan, Chinese dance artist, vice chairman of the Chinese Dancers Association, the national level performers, enjoy the State Council "government special allowance". She is also a member of the Expert Committee of China National Folk Dance Level Examination.
In 1971, she joined the Xishuangbanna State Song and Dance Troupe, then transferred to the Central Folk Song and Dance Troupe, and became famous for her Peacock Dance. 1992, she became the first dancer from mainland China to go to Taiwan to perform, and in 1994, her solo dance, "The Spirit of the Sparrow," was awarded the Gold Prize of the 20th Century Dance Classics of the Chinese Nationalities. In 2009, she gained success with the sister piece of "Reflections of Yunnan", "The Sound of Yunnan", and became the first dancer in China to organize a solo dance party.
