"Looking for him in the crowd, I suddenly turned around and the man was there, dimly lit." What traditional festival is it about?

"Looking for him in the crowd for thousands of Baidu, suddenly looking back, the man is in a dim light" describes the Lantern Festival.

This is a sentence from the Jade Case Yuan written by Xin Qiji, a poet in the Song Dynasty.

The full text of the jade case is as follows:

Thousands of trees bloom at night in the East. Blowing down, the stars are like rain. BMW carved cars are full of incense. Phoenix flute moves, jade pot turns, fish dragon dances all night.

Moth, snow, willow, golden thread. The laughter faded away. Look for him in the crowd. Suddenly looking back, the man was there, dimly lit.

Literal meaning of the full text:

Just as the spring breeze blows away thousands of trees and silver flowers, it falls like a starry rain all over the sky. The floats pulled by BMW are all strange smells, and the people who come to see the lights are rich. Melodious flutes echoed everywhere, the bright moon gradually tilted to the west, and the fish and dragons lanterns danced happily, and they were not sleepy all night.

Women are dressed as jade and flowers, and moths and snow willows have been stuck in their heads, laughing and walking all the way. I looked for her anxiously, but I couldn't find her in the crowd a thousand times. Suddenly I turned around and inadvertently found her in a place with sparse lights.

Full text appreciation:

The first half of this word is about the grand occasion of the Lantern Festival.

"Thousands of trees bloom in the oriental night, and the stars are like rain": clusters of fireworks fly into the sky, and then disperse like star rain. From the very beginning, people were brought into the festival carnival of "Fire Tree and Silver Flower".

"BMW is full of incense": dignitaries also take their families out to see the lights. The "fish dragon dance" in the following sentence constitutes a scene of universal celebration.

"Feng Xiao moves, the jade pot lights, and the fish dances all night": "Feng Xiao" is a musical instrument, which refers to music in general; "Jade pot" indicates the month; "ichthyosaur" is in the shape of a lantern. Under the moonlight, people immersed in the festival sang and danced all night.

Xia Kun is still writing about the happiness of Yuanxiao, while Shang Kun is writing about the whole scene. Xia Kun wrote about a specific person. Through his ups and downs, his personal happiness naturally blended into the happiness of the festival.

"Moths, children, snow, willows, golden wisps, laughter and delicate fragrance go far away": this sentence is about the woman who looks at the lights during the Lantern Festival. They are wearing beautiful clothes and ornaments, and they are running forward happily. Wherever they go, the faint fragrance wafts with the wind. "Snow Willow" is a kind of headdress similar to Hosta.

Looking for her in the crowd: (this person) identifies many passing women one by one (but none of them are the right person he is waiting for).

"Suddenly looking back, the man was in the dim light": I looked back and found my sweetheart standing in the dark.

"The lights are dim" should not be interpreted as "the beautiful night will eventually pass away". Although "the lights are dim" means that the fireworks falling from the sky have been extinguished when they are close to the ground, even if there is brilliance on their heads, the place where they stand is dark.

Everyone is familiar with this sentence, especially the last sentence, "Looking back suddenly, the man was in the dim light", which has been a famous sentence for a long time. The whole word came to an abrupt end in the most wonderful place, but it left a very broad imagination space for readers. After waiting, searching, anxious and disappointed, I suddenly found that my Mr. Right was behind me. No one can imagine the surprise falling from the sky.

Needless to say, the word "man" in the word "dim light" is a girl. She only showed her face in the vague darkness at the end of the word. However, readers can feel that this is a smart, lively and somewhat naughty girl. When her person is in the light and she is in the dark, she may have found him long ago, but she is not in a hurry to see him. Test his patience first, see his anxious appearance first, then follow him quietly, and then give him an unexpected surprise when he is about to collapse.

As for the young man, he didn't see the grand occasion of the Lantern Festival, and he didn't care. He only cares about the girls passing by in front of him, eager to find that lovely and familiar face. If you can't find your beloved, the whole Lantern Festival will be eclipsed, and all the excitement will only make him feel lost and lonely. Only when he meets the "man" he is eager to see will the whole happy scene be activated and he will really enjoy the double happiness brought by the festival.
