Basics of Latin Dance Samba
The Cha Cha Cha dance steps are derived from jazz. The first step is to flap the hips, and the second step is to tap the feet, which is similar to the rumba. Pay attention to the twisting of the waist and hips in the overall dance behavior.
It is precisely the practice of hip rhythm, from diagonally forward to sideways. The basic dance steps always maintain the center of gravity characteristics of the jazz step, that is, the center of gravity is on the straight leg, so that you can dance compact and neat steps. The movement of its feet is very important. When there is no center of gravity after stepping up, the soles of the feet collapse and the insteps push up.
Cuban Break Step
Preparatory movements: Center the weight on the right foot and open the left foot.
Step 1. Step up with your left foot diagonally in front, turn your toes outwards, and center your weight between the two feet. The heel of your right leg behind you is off the ground, and your knee is close to your left foot, making a reflexive movement.
Step 2: Change the weight of your right foot to the right foot. ? Step 3, come back with your left foot.
Change the direction, step forward with your right foot diagonally, and do the same action.
Rhythm and counting: just ONE, just ONE.
Upper body movements: When stepping up with the left foot, press the abdomen with the right hand and extend the left hand.
When you step up with your right foot, press your abdomen with your left hand and extend your right hand.
You can also shrink one hand and extend the other.
Important note:
The rhythm of the Cuban break step is different from that of the time step. Instead, it jumps directly to "Cha Cha ONE". What must be emphasized when learning this action is that when stepping up, the thighs should be clamped and the center of gravity should be between the legs. There must be a reflexive movement. The body and feet are in opposite directions, which requires the cooperation of the upper body and feet. When the right shoulder is forward, step out the left foot; when the left shoulder is forward, step out the right foot. The knee of the back foot must touch the back knee of the front foot. Otherwise, it will be difficult to learn this movement well.
New York Step
In the first step of the New York Step, the center of gravity is completely placed on the main leg. The center of gravity is between the two feet, forming a half center of gravity. There is a 1/16 when stepping up. Open outward.
Preparatory movements: Center the weight on the right foot, open the left foot, and form the sole of the foot to the ground, with the instep straight.
Step 1, turn your left foot 90° to the right, place your right knee against your left knee, open your right hand upwards, and palm down.
Step 2, change the center of gravity with your right foot.
Step 3, come back with your left foot and turn left 90°.
Step 4. Step with your right foot and left foot.
Step 5: Continue to move your left foot to the left, open your right foot, and touch the sole of your foot to the ground with your instep straight.
Step up with your right foot and do the same action.
Rhythm and number of beats: 1 beat, 1 beat, half beat, half beat, 1 beat. (TWO THREE Qia Qia ONE)
Upper body movements: When stepping on the left foot, extend the left hand forward, and open the right hand diagonally to the right and above. Pay attention to pressing the shoulders behind, lift the head, and keep the palms facing down. When the left foot comes back, the hand extending forward can pull it over with force.
The New York step has three turns, one 1/4 turn to the left, one 1/4 turn to the right, and then back to the center.
After mastering these 6 movements, you can jump together. At the end, you can do a styling move. Cross your body with your left foot as above, turn right 180°, stretch your right hand upward to the right, palm facing down, press your abdomen with your left hand, and lunge with your right foot.
