What kinds of China dances are there?

Classical dance, modern dance, folk dance.

1. Classical dance: refers to the dance that has been refined, sorted, processed and created by professional workers in past dynasties, and has been tested by long-term artistic practice, and has certain demonstration significance and classical style characteristics.

China's classical dance was founded in 1950s and was once called "traditional opera dance" by some people. It is a mixture of drama and dance, which means that it has not completely evolved from drama, so it is called drama.

2. Modern dance: The main aesthetic point of view is to oppose the formalistic tendency of classical ballet, stick to the rules, be divorced from real life and simply pursue skills. It advocates getting rid of the rigid movement procedure of classical ballet, freely expressing people's true feelings with dance movements that conform to the laws of natural movement, and emphasizes that dance art should reflect modern social life.

At present, well-known modern dance companies in China include Yunmen Dance Collection (Taiwan Province Province), Urban Contemporary Dance Company (Hongkong), Guangdong Modern Dance Company, Beijing Modern Dance Company, Shanghai Jinxing Dance Company, Beijing Dong Lei Tianxia Modern Dance Company, etc. Beijing Contemporary Ballet has created many modern dance works with unique styles.

3. National dance: refers to a dance form that originated and spread among the people, was restricted by folk culture, improvised but relatively stable in style, and took self-entertainment as its main function. Folk dances in different regions, countries and nationalities are influenced by living environment, customs, lifestyle, national character, cultural traditions, religious beliefs and other factors, as well as the physiological conditions such as the age and gender of performers.

There are obvious differences in performance skills and styles. Folk dance has the characteristics of simplicity, various forms, rich content and vivid image. It has always been an indispensable source of materials for classical dance, folk dance, palace dance and professional dance creation in various countries.
