Yang Liping, born on November 10, 1958, in Eryuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, is a female dancer from mainland China, a national-level performer, and a member of the Expert Committee of the Chinese National Folk Dance Level Examination. In 1971, she joined the Xishuangbanna State Song and Dance Troupe, and later transferred to the Central Folk Dance Troupe, where she became famous for her "Peacock Dance".
In 1992, she became the first mainland Chinese dancer to perform in Taiwan, and in 1994, her solo dance "The Spirit of the Sparrow" won the Gold Medal for the 20th Century Dance Classics of the Chinese Nationalities, and in 2009, she gained success with the sister piece of "Reflections of Yunnan", "The Ringing Sound of Yunnan", and became the first dancer in China to hold a solo dance gala. Yunnan Provincial Spring Festival Gala, as the artistic director of the program "Jade Rabbit and Chang'e".
Acting Experience
In 1979, Yang Liping's large-scale folk dance drama Princess Peacock, starring Yang Liping, won the first prize for performance in Yunnan Province in 1979. 1986, she created and performed her solo dance Spirit of the Sparrow, which made her famous and won her the first prize for creation and the first prize for performance in the Second National Dance Competition. 1993, in the Spring Festival Gala of CCTV, she was awarded the first prize for creation and the first prize for performance in the second national dance competition. It is known as the absolute version of Mei Chaofeng, and is quite popular.
