"Peach Blossom Red Apricot Blossom White" was first sung by singer Liu Changyu.
"Peach Blossom Red and Apricot Blossom White" is a classic Shanxi folk song. It belongs to the typical "blossom tune" of the Taihang Mountains, a form of folk song popular in Shanxi, of which the "Zuoquan Blossom Tune" is the most outstanding.
The original version of this work*** has four sections. Liu Changyu thought that the last two lines of the song were not good, so he left only the three-part version that is sung by the public nowadays. And the original name of the song was "Dahuaibaodiao", which was later changed to "Peach Blossom Red and Apricot Blossom White" after Liu Changyu's processing and modification, and quickly spread under her interpretation.

As a lifelong artist engaged in Zuoquan folk song singing, in 2009 was elected as the top ten outstanding intangible cultural heritage bearers in Shanxi Province and was recognized, by the Ministry of Culture assessed as a national intangible cultural heritage representative bearers.
Over the past half-century, the simple and sweet Zuoquan folk songs sung by Liu Changyu, such as "The Land Returns Home", "Flowering Tune", "Peach Blossom Red and Apricot Blossom White", and "Kindly Wash Your Clothes in the River", have become the representative repertoire of the Shanxi Provincial Opera and Dance Drama Theatre.
