Answers to the "Basic Ability" Test of the 2007 College Entrance Examination

2007 Guangdong college entrance examination reform program

Arts and science, admission of two lines

This is the end of 2005, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education formally announced to the community to seek advice on the program. 2007 Guangdong college entrance examination will be "3 + basic arts/science foundation + X." The "3" is still language, mathematics and foreign languages, mathematics by subject into mathematics (arts) and mathematics (science), which for the candidates. "3" is still the language, mathematics and foreign languages, mathematics by subject into mathematics (arts) and mathematics (science), which will reduce the difficulty of the examination for the arts candidates.

The emergence of a split "Arts Foundation" "Science Foundation". "Liberal Arts Foundation" refers to the application of liberal arts majors candidates need to have the basis for the designated optional subjects, including ideology and politics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and other disciplines, of which the physical, chemical and biological accounted for 30%, and the other accounted for 70%. "Science Foundation" is the foundation for candidates applying for science majors, and is also a designated elective subject. Including physics, chemistry, biology, ideology and politics, history, geography and other disciplines, of which physical, chemical and biological accounted for 70%, the other 30%.

"X" for professional elective subjects, there are physics, chemistry, biology, ideology and politics, history, geography, music, art, physical education and other 9 subjects.

"General" candidates are divided into "Arts" and "Science". For the Arts: compulsory subjects are language, mathematics (arts), foreign languages; designated optional subjects are basic arts; professional optional subjects are ideology and politics, history and geography; for the Science: compulsory subjects are language, mathematics (science), foreign languages; designated optional subjects are basic science; professional optional subjects are physics, chemistry and biology.

The admission score line original general category is divided into two into two score lines, one for arts and one for science. Comprehensive quality assessment will replace the current candidates electronic file of graduation examination results, graduation appraisal, admission as one of the basis for admission to colleges and universities.

Five major changes to interpret the new program of reform of the Guangdong college entrance examination

Mathematics arts and science subjects classification line filing admission ......

Guangdong Province, the implementation of the new curriculum experiment of the general high school general college entrance examination reform program (second draft for comment) (hereinafter referred to as "the program") in the examination content, method, admission method, etc. A number of aspects of the reform, and the current general college entrance examination program, compared to the new reform program has at least five major changes.

Change a comprehensive aptitude test changed to "basic arts/science"

The current college entrance examination adopts the method of "3 + comprehensive aptitude test + X", which requires that each candidate must participate in a comprehensive aptitude test, except for the art candidates, and all candidates must participate in a comprehensive aptitude test.

For this reason, the 2007 College Entrance Examination subject setting is proposed to adopt the "3 + Arts Foundation / Science Foundation + X" approach. "Arts Foundation", "Science Foundation" include ideology and politics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and other subjects, and "Arts Foundation" in ideology and politics, history, Geography accounted for 70% of the content of the "Foundation of Arts", physics, chemistry, biology accounted for 30% of the content; "Foundation of Science" in physics, chemistry, biology accounted for 70% of the content of ideology and politics, history, geography accounted for 30% of the content.

"Foundation of Arts", "Foundation of Science" are only subject to the subject curriculum standards stipulated in the mandatory part of the content, that is, students should know through normal learning knowledge, and all use multiple choice questions to reduce the difficulty of the high school exams. In the examination content and the difficulty of the examination reflects the reduction of the burden on students.

Changes in the second math, science subjects

The new college entrance examination program "3 + Arts Foundation / Science Foundation + X" in the "3" refers to the language, mathematics, English, which is divided into mathematics by arts and sciences, reflecting the adjustment of the new curriculum for the teaching of mathematics. This reflects the adjustment of the new curriculum to the teaching of mathematics. In the new curriculum standard for senior secondary schools, the learning requirements and contents of mathematics are set according to the different developmental tendencies of students, and the series of mathematics electives for students with different developmental tendencies can be different. These differences are reflected in the requirements for candidates applying for different subjects in the college entrance examination. Mathematics, science and technology examination to reduce the burden of secondary school teaching and student learning.

Changes in the third art candidates plus the test "basic arts"

"Program" to improve the requirements of art candidates, art candidates in the past do not need to participate in the comprehensive aptitude test, but the new gaokao reform program, the examination of art majors, the mandatory subjects for the language, mathematics (liberal arts), foreign languages However, under the new reform plan of the college entrance examination, the compulsory subjects for the arts majors are language, mathematics (liberal arts) and foreign languages; the designated optional subject is the foundation of liberal arts; and the optional subjects for the majors are music/art. The "foundation of liberal arts" as the designated optional subjects for art candidates, raising the requirements of humanistic qualities of art candidates.

Change 4 comprehensive quality assessment for colleges and universities

Comprehensive quality assessment is an important part of the new curriculum reform in high school, but due to the objective differences in level between regions and secondary schools, different regions, different secondary schools on the comprehensive quality assessment of the candidate's content and standards to grasp the content and standards are not the same, which will increase the difficulty of the objective assessment of college admission. Therefore, the comprehensive quality evaluation in the college entrance examination use or gradual process, at present only for colleges and universities reference.

Comprehensive quality assessment of the content of the written text expression of the way sub-projects into the electronic file of the candidates. The content includes the secondary school period of each subject credits, technical field, art field, sports and health field, comprehensive practical activities performance or awards, etc., to replace the current candidates electronic file graduation examination results, graduation appraisal, admission for reference to higher education, as one of the basis for admission to colleges and universities.

Changes five classification line filing admission

The new college entrance examination reform program will be a combination of professional elective subjects and enrollment specialties, the implementation of classification admission. Admission, according to the arts, science, sports, art class delineation of admission score line, categorized filing, categorized admission.

"Program" pointed out that the general colleges and universities will be based on professional characteristics and training objectives, the enrollment plan is divided into science, liberal arts, sports, art (including music, art) delineation, and according to the professional training needs, to determine the subject groups of the professional examination. When admission is made, liberal arts and science majors will be admitted on the basis of the total score synthesized from the 5-subject examination results, with the results and total score of each subject presented in standardized scores. Sports, arts majors according to the 4 subjects of the examination results synthesized total score and arts scores based on the admission. 4 subjects of the results and total scores were presented with standard scores, arts scores with the original scores presented.

The Provincial Admissions Committee based on arts, science, sports, art professional enrollment plan, respectively, with 5 subjects total score (standard score) by a certain percentage of the arts, science majors in each batch of admission minimum control score line; with 4 subjects total score (standard score) and arts scores, according to a certain percentage of the sports, art majors in each batch of admission minimum control score line. In the admission of the minimum control score line, combined with the enrollment of professional elective subject requirements and candidates elective subject situation, with a certain proportion of the total score from the highest to the lowest file.

General colleges and universities, based on the files cast by the Office of the Provincial Admissions Committee, will select candidates on the basis of merit in accordance with the admissions principles and requirements that have been announced by the schools, combined with the evaluation of candidates' comprehensive quality.

Professors Gao Lingbiao and Li Shaoshan talked with netizens about the new Guangdong college entrance examination program

After the release of the 2007 Guangdong General College Entrance Examination Reform Program (draft 2 for consultation) on Nov. 8, 2005, it has received widespread attention. For this reason, on November 19th, 8:00-10:00 pm , the participants in the development of the Guangdong 07 college entrance examination program are invited ------ South China Normal University Gao Lingbiao, Li Shaoshan Professor guest CERSP Academic Evaluation Forum, and the majority of teachers to talk about the new program of the Guangdong college entrance examination, the following is the netizen with the two professors of the Q & A collated:

1. Arts and science foundation only use multiple-choice questions is inappropriate, the practice. Because each type of question will have its own advantages and disadvantages, the examination should be all kinds of questions, fill in the blanks, calculations, answers and so on can also be from different sides of the examination of students' basic knowledge, why only multiple-choice questions? Moreover, it is inevitable that students will answer multiple-choice questions in a casual manner, even strengthening the possibility of students cheating?

Gao: Everything has its advantages and disadvantages, and the disadvantages of multiple-choice questions are not only the ease of cheating and many other problems, but also has its advantages, that is, the examination surface is broad and shallow, which is in line with our requirements for the foundation of the arts and sciences.

2. Since Arts/Science Fundamentals is not very difficult, it is quite difficult to improve its differentiation, and even more difficult to rely only on multiple choice questions. I am worried about how the proposers will come up with 120 minutes of multiple choice questions. I would suggest that there should still be some small subjective questions within fill-in-the-blanks, which is also more in line with the spirit of the new curriculum reform!

High: The purpose of the examination of these two subjects is not to differentiate between students, and it does not matter if the differentiation is not high. A misunderstanding of the current college entrance examination is to take the differentiation as the first requirement of the examination, causing the examination questions to be constantly more difficult. This should be changed if the college entrance examination is further reformed.

Lee: It requires a choice between reducing the burden and improving the selectivity of the test questions. The program developers explained that the arts/science foundation is a proficiency exam and does not require differentiation.

3. Our school now has an arts/science ratio of around 6:4, and after coming out with the Gao Kao program the school seems to be intentionally telling us to study science. Listening to the teacher said that the number of people recruited in science accounted for 70% of the score first has been separated, the score line of science than the bottom of the text, now read more people in science? The reason for this is the fact that it is really not better than the text.

High: The teacher's opinion is based on the current experience, there is a certain reference value.

4. The description of the curriculum is very simple and concise, and the textbook usually has several versions, so how will the questions of the college entrance exam be? The first is that the textbook is a very simple and concise description, and the textbook usually has several versions. The interpretation of the standard of the major experts are different, secondary school teachers how to grasp?

Lee: Based on the "Examination Syllabus" and "Textbook".

5. Guangdong College Entrance Examination English next year and the following year to increase the difficulty, is the result of the education administration officials are obsessed with foreign pandering, so continue, our national language level will be greatly reduced. This is called counting the classics and forgetting the ancestors ah, a full sellout, foreign slave consciousness, traitor's face.

Gao: posts like this are venting, not opinions. If you want to give your opinion, please throw away your angry words and discuss the issue together calmly.

6. According to the new program, the different subjects of the examination for students of different disciplines from the original one, became three, in this case, science students of 600 points and arts students of 600 points equivalent? Nowadays, many colleges and universities are admitting students in both arts and science majors, so is 100 points for physics equivalent to 100 points for politics? This point deserves to be debated more carefully. The introduction of the new college entrance examination program seems to provide a fairer platform for students who are slightly biased. But in reality, students in different disciplines will inevitably have some favoritism, and using the same yardstick to measure is inherently unfair.

Gao: You don't seem to have noticed the changes in the new program in terms of enrollment methods, or use the old enrollment methods to set the new program.

7. I heard some school teachers say that when the high school entrance examination program is finalized, they are going to guide students to select x-courses in the first year of high school, so that they can easily prepare for the high school entrance examination earlier. It is really sad that the introduction of the new curriculum of the college entrance examination program does make us secondary school teachers from the original vision of a better future back to reality, the new curriculum can not carry the pain of quality education. I often think, wait until 2050 college entrance examination or so? The answer is yes, look at Japan, South Korea, these deep Confucianism, the economy into the ranks of the developed countries, is not still the same? It seems that the curriculum reform should return to the curriculum education ideas, concepts of leadership, the content of the textbook with the times, and should not carry the heavy burden of the college entrance examination. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of China's abolition of the imperial examinations, reviewing China's imperial examination era, dreaming vaguely this year is the old year! Woo-hoo!

High: The gaokao program is unlikely to solve many of the problems in education today and should not be met with unrealistic expectations. I remember that at the beginning of the new curriculum, I was asked if the implementation of the new curriculum would solve the problem of teaching to the test. My reply was that the reason for teaching to the test did not lie in the kind of curriculum to be implemented, so one could not expect the new curriculum to solve the problems of teaching to the test either. If you still want to go the way of the test, or if society is still forcing you to go the way of test education, then after the implementation of the new curriculum you will still feel that the new curriculum does not give you a guarantee that you will not go the way of test education.

Li: The college entrance examination program is a comprehensive balance of opinions, ideals and realities. There is no perfect gaokao program at this stage.

8. How is comprehensive quality evaluated? How to utilize it in the admission of college entrance examination? Will it be subjective and unfair?

High: Now it is only for reference. Whether it will be used as a basis for admission in the future will depend on the development of the situation.

9. May I ask the professor: what is the rough ratio of arts and science in the 2005 college enrollment? This is important to guide the sophomore students in choosing their x-courses. I would like to thank you for your help!

Gao: This figure should be asked to the enrollment office, we are not administrators, not clear. You can ask through the schools, it's not hard to get numbers like that.

10. "Guangdong Province, the general high school elective courses to open the guidance" on the elective courses opened in the various disciplines of the module have made a clearer requirement, only the language does not make clear provisions, the language elective module in the end, at least how many to open the minimum college entrance examination requirements?

High: the language course standard only stipulates the series, did not stipulate the module, each series includes how many modules is not stipulated, so the examination can not stipulate how many modules. This is the problem of curriculum standards, we are reflecting to the leadership of the Ministry of Education, when can be changed over, we are not sure.

11. Since last week, the Provincial Department of Education announced the 2007 college entrance examination (consultation 2 draft), and to collect the views of the community. There has been a huge reaction in the education sector and a lively discussion in the media. It is widely believed that the new program will increase the burden on students and will lead to a more test-oriented high school education, and strongly requested to reduce the number of subjects in the college entrance examination.

A survey of high school principals in Guangzhou conducted by the city's Education and Research Office showed that of the 91 high school principals who accepted the adjustments, 40 expressed opposition to the recently announced college entrance examination program, 49 agreed reluctantly or basically, and only two said they agreed with it completely. From this, we feel that the government must consider the following questions when making decisions:

(1) Is it reasonable to introduce a new program that suffers opposition from nearly 50 percent of the high school principals who are fighting on the front lines? What will be the effect if it is introduced hastily?

(2) The introduction of integrated subjects is the first of its kind in Guangdong. I remember that when it was implemented in 1999, one of the province's main leaders said that the comprehensive subject was mainly to test students' overall quality and the use of book knowledge, and that schools did not need to offer classes and students did not need to review. But what school does not offer integrated subjects now? What is the value of the existence of such a thing that goes against the grain?

(3) How many provinces and cities in the country offer integrated subjects? The reform cannot be done without considering the reality. Is the opinion of high school principals, who are fighting on the front line of education, worth considering?

(4) the previous "3 + X + comprehensive", due to the difficulty of the test questions, the number of applicants, and the use of standardized scores, the admissions regardless of the uniform line drawing. The result is that students "pile up" to enroll in subjects that are easy to get on line. This is another program designers did not expect, but why the new program is still in this dead end to go on?

(5) Before 1999, when enrollment was divided into arts and sciences, arts and sciences could not be admitted to each other, but after the expansion of enrollment, colleges and universities have to grab students, so as long as they are on the line, no matter what the X subject is, they want it. Isn't this again against the original intent of the X-subject setup?

(6) The key problem, the whole idea of the gaokao reform program is problematic. The education authorities want to use the baton of the gaokao to control high school course offerings after the new curriculum reform. Don't forget that the college entrance exam is only a selection test for university entrance, and it should never be used to direct 12 years of basic education. The education authorities have to ensure that senior secondary school courses are offered and that students are not allowed to take subjects too early, which can be achieved by establishing and improving the proficiency test, or the HKCEE system.

All in all, the current approach can only force high schools and students to revolve more and more around the college entrance examination, and the result of high school education can only be more "test-oriented". This is a result that no one wants to see, but it is unavoidable.

High: I share many of the issues you raised, and the current college entrance examination program is certainly not an ideal program, but a compromise after considering the requirements of various aspects. I don't understand, though, why the new program would lead to more test-taking. Can you give some reasoning?

12. After the introduction of the new program, we made a survey among teachers and students, 95% of teachers and 70% of students think that only multiple choice questions in the comprehensive subject can not show the students' thinking process, and the college entrance examination "ability to stand" is contrary to the change, is it possible to change? Is it possible to change this? At least, there should be some subjective questions in the Arts section of the Foundation of Arts and the Science section of the Foundation of Science? Can this issue be reflected to the examination center?

Lee: Experts and secondary school principals have raised similar questions about the specific requirements of the Foundation of Arts and Foundation of Science at the 07 program seminar.

13. May I ask Prof. Gao Lingbiao, if there is a contradiction between the "2007 Guangdong Provincial General College Entrance Examination Reform Program (Draft 2 for Opinion Solicitation)" and the "Guidelines for the Provision of Elective Courses in Guangdong Provincial General High Schools" on the specific requirements for the elective courses, which document should take precedence?

High: These two documents were introduced at different times, and are developed by different departments, if you find contradictions, please list the specific contradictions and immediately hand over to the Education Department's Teaching and Research Office and the Examination Center for an answer. We can also forward comments for you, and it is their responsibility to revise these contradictions until everyone agrees.

14. Why can't we have a small comprehensive examination, so that students will have more room for choice, but also be able to meet the requirements of colleges and universities, and the impact on secondary school biology and other courses will be less, the overall quality of the students will also be higher, and the burden will be lessened, please ask Professor.

Gao: The problem is that university liberal arts require students to have a certain knowledge base not only in liberal arts but also in science. Such a task is best done by the HKCEE if there is a credible and reliable HKCEE system. If I take my personal view, in fact, today's college entrance examination is unnecessarily a selective examination, and it is fine to use a level examination for selection. However, such a reform has to be taken step by step, too fast, all parties do not adapt, and problems will arise.

Lee: Guangdong Province 07 college entrance examination program "3 + basic arts / science foundation + X", reflecting the continuity of the reform of the college entrance examination in our province, to maintain the province's current college entrance examination program with basic and selective unity, *** with the same requirements and the unity of the development of individuality, is conducive to guiding the high school students in the humanities and science literacy It is conducive to guiding the comprehensive development of humanistic and scientific literacy of high school students, and helps to promote the experiment of the new curriculum in high school. Guangdong's new program has obvious advantages over the small comprehensive.

15. Why not implement a single mini-comprehensive, and what is the impact of the current program on the selection of majors for students of biology and other disciplines?

Lee: hope to apply for medicine, agricultural colleges or engineering bioengineering majors should be able to choose to study biology.

16. I remember that when the biology college entrance examination was resumed in 1999, the majors that could be enrolled in biology were very limited, and then, the limitations slowly became smaller, and more and more majors were enrolled in part-time, and will it be the same this time, and will it slowly push forward the mechanism of such part-time enrollment? Or is it that certain majors must be restricted due to the problem of student population?

Gao: I'm not sure. Many universities in the arts and science concurrent enrollment, only consider the candidates score, but after a few years of practice, found that the arts candidates recruited to all science is very unwise, and now many universities do not want to do so.

Lee: the enrollment of universities and colleges of various majors should have restrictions on the selection of subjects, in order to guide the candidates to rationally choose X subjects.

17. student biology, to the university, the choice of subjects can not choose design class? What level of sketching should I take?

Lee: If you want to major in art, you should take art as your X-subject, not biology.

18. What is the approximate ratio of enrollment in arts and sciences estimated for the 2007 college entrance exam?

Gao: This will not be known until the 2007 enrollment plan is finalized

19. Some people think that no matter how the reform of the college entrance examination is carried out, it is nothing more than new wine in old bottles due to the existence of the college entrance examination baton, what does Prof. Gao think about this kind of talk?

Gao: The gaokao has too many non-examination functions in China, and these functions can't be dumped just because you want to. If you want to have a more ideal and reasonable examination and enrollment system, it must be carried out at the same time with the reform of the society, not just changing a few examination subjects or the technique of proposing questions. Now the reform of the Advanced Level Examination (ALE) in 2007 is actually more concerned with trying to match the requirements of the new curriculum in terms of examination content, rather than making a revolutionary change. We all hope that it would be better to make a radical revolutionary change, but can you tell what such a change is going to be like? If there is no new way, but only a negation of the old way, then it becomes destruction, not revolution. It is fun to have a good time, but in the end everyone has to suffer. There is a lesson to be learned from the Cultural Revolution.

20. In fact, as far as the new college entrance examination program is concerned, the subject of biology has been restricted to a large extent? Is it because of the fact that there are too many students applying for biology in the past few years? I feel that it is not favorable to the development of biology as a subject. ...... When the program was first developed, what criteria were used to develop the restrictions on this X subject

Lee: The new curriculum puts biology and physics/chemistry on the same subject status: the same number of compulsory credits, the same number of weekly hours. Why the restriction? Candidates' choices should be fully respected and regulated by the job market.

21. Trying to reduce the burden through the new curriculum program seems to be a fool's errand. The college entrance examination, a big arena where everyone competes strongly, is not easy to talk about in a country where China has such a large population, such an urgent employment situation, and such a strong sense of officialism (to learn is to be good at what you do)! Secondary school teachers can only be appointed to the wrong profession!

Gao: the heavy burden of students, ostensibly because of the need to deal with the examination, the deeper reason, or the real reason, is a combination of many problems in our society today, before these problems are not solved, to really realize the burden reduction is probably not easy.

22. In the 07 gaokao, will the elective modules be chosen arbitrarily or will they be more conservative, such as agreeing on some mandatory modules in advance?

Gao: Guangdong Provincial Department of Education Education and Research Office has issued a combination of elective modules, but because this opinion is still not specific enough, so it is not yet clear how the elective examination will be like. The relevant administrative departments have promised to develop detailed regulations on the content of the examination immediately after the decision on the college entrance examination program.

23. Now many people think that biology in the college entrance exam is not as good a selection for students as physics and chemistry, and that it is easy for students to get a high score by taking biology, so is it true that the biology college entrance exam questions will become more and more difficult in the future?

Lee: Biology examines biological scientific literacy, which is irreplaceable in physics and chemistry, and is not comparable between different subjects.

The difficulty of the questions only affects the absolute scores, and the standardized scores are presented in Guangdong.

24. The content of the new curriculum has increased a lot. How does the new college entrance exam take this into account?

High: The foundation of arts or science in the college entrance exam, only the compulsory courses. Language to test compulsory plus elective, how to add, now is not very clear. Mathematics elective content of some to be examined, some do not, the Education Department of the Office of Education and Research has been a preliminary provision. Foreign languages, on the other hand, require grade eight. All other subjects have corresponding regulations.

25. At present, schools below category D seem to encourage students to enroll in the liberal arts before the college entrance examination program comes out, so many schools are encouraged to enroll in the ratio of 6:4 between arts and sciences, but from the college entrance examination program, it seems to be more focused on the sciences.

High: The current college entrance examination program does not focus on science, but after the division of arts and sciences, the enrollment ratio of science may be larger than that of arts, and some of the candidates need to adjust their choices according to this situation.

26. Teachers at my school say that after the reform, students in the liberal arts are less favorable than those in the sciences, is that true?

Gao: The current college entrance examination is unfair to science candidates, and the new program has corrected this and become a bit fairer.

27. In the 07 gaokao, the foundation of arts and science all use multiple choice questions, will this multiple choice questions be a more fragmented platter or will it be closer to the arts and science in other provinces, i.e., will it become a question type with some comprehensiveness?

Gao: According to the program, there should be no synthesis. In fact, the ability to synthesize across disciplines is a very high demand for students, in the college entrance examination in such a short period of time requires students to have not seen the problem of using the knowledge of different disciplines to synthesize the solution, this requirement is even higher, unrealistic. In teaching the need to develop students' ability to synthesize across disciplines, but this is not the same as having to take the test. A lot of ability is the college entrance examination is no way to test.

28. Experts, do you think it is advantageous to study science or arts? As far as I know, it seems that science is superior. I'm not sure how many people are taking science courses nowadays.

High: Not necessarily, it depends on your own specialties and hobbies.

29. Why is language not divided into arts and science?

Gao: I personally think it is possible to consider this opinion, but most of the principals think it doesn't matter whether the language is divided into arts and sciences or not, because the language can't be very difficult. So they didn't entertain the idea.

30. Should students' emotions, attitudes and values be considered in the college entrance examination? If they are considered, what should be done? How are emotions, attitudes and values evaluated?

Gao: It is impossible for the college entrance examination to consider students' emotion, attitude and values. We can't keep a student out of college just because he has emotional problems.

31. Nowadays, many people think that biology in the college entrance examination is not as good for students as physics and chemistry, and that it is easy for students to get high scores by choosing biology, so is it true that the questions of the biology entrance examination in the future will become more and more difficult?

Gao: I am strongly opposed to making the Gao Kao biology subject more and more difficult. The reason for this is that different subjects are studied differently at the secondary school level, and what is studied in secondary school in biology is only the most basic knowledge of the subject, as if it were popular science, and it would be meaningless to make it more difficult. At the top of the biological discipline, of course, there are a lot of very difficult to learn, but those are not learned in secondary school, and a lot of them are also stirred up with the knowledge of chemistry and physics, you have not yet learned the relevant knowledge of physics and chemistry, how is it possible to learn these difficult biological knowledge?

32. May I ask Professor Li, this time the college entrance examination program attached to the enrollment of professional guidance on the subject of biology has a lot of restrictions, do you think this will have a negative impact on the teaching of high school biology?

Li: I think there is a certain impact on the number of people who choose to take biology, but it will not adversely affect the teaching of biology in secondary schools.

33. I studied in a relatively remote place, due to the school's operating conditions, those so-called elective courses, simply almost the same as compulsory, we have absolutely no right to choose, are the teacher to help us to choose a good, after more than 1 year of study, I personally think that now the so-called new standard and the previous no difference.

High: This is the case all over the country. The new curriculum sets an ideal goal for us, but it can't be achieved in one night. It is true that there are many problems of inadequate educational resources in mountainous areas now. We should *** with efforts to urge the government to give more investment and attention to the mountainous areas, and at the same time ask the teachers in the mountainous areas to teach as much as possible according to the concepts of the new curriculum. Such a problem is also not a problem of the curriculum itself.

34. The subject of biology has always been discriminated against!

Gao: Why?

35. The question of the division of scores in the Guangdong 07 college entrance examination program. The new program for all candidates in the same paper only language, English two subjects, please ask the standard score of these two subjects is the original score of all candidates lined up into the standard score? Or are they lined up separately according to the raw scores of the two categories of candidates, and then converted into different standard scores for each of the arts and sciences?

High: The standard scores for each of the subjects of Mathematics, Language and English are calculated separately for Arts and Science. That is to say, although all the candidates are examined in the language, but in the calculation of the standardized score is separated from the arts candidates and science candidates two different groups to calculate their respective standardized scores.

36. Mr. Gao, what is the relationship between comprehensive quality assessment and process evaluation?

Gao: Comprehensive quality assessment is about evaluating the comprehensive quality of students, and process evaluation is about a way of evaluation, which are two different concepts. There is certainly a connection between the two: comprehensive quality evaluation requires the use of process evaluation methods, but does not exclude other methods. For example, sports performance and so on.

37. Are the scores for the '07 exam going to be ranked by arts and sciences?

High: Yes.

38. Will such a program benefit schools in the mountains?

Gao: I don't know. I think the program was developed with fairness to all candidates in mind, and whether the results will be fair or not will have to be tested in practice.

39. If the GCE Foundation in Arts and Science is only compulsory, how can we test whether students have taken elective courses? If there is no reflection of the relevant content, then how can the merits of the new curriculum be reflected? How to reflect the testing of the new curriculum concepts in the multiple choice questions?

Gao: The elective course's to be examined in the examination of X subjects, and also in the examination of three subjects. It would be too heavy a burden and impossible for every student to take electives in all subjects. The new curriculum requires students to take electives according to their strengths and preferences, and does not require all electives to be taken.

40. This program seems to be very favorable to the schools in the Pearl River Delta down there and not favorable to the mountainous areas! Is this the case?

Ko: Why is it favorable to candidates from the Pearl River Delta? Can you make a little sense to me?

41. It is indeed a good thing for the majority of teachers and students that only compulsory courses will be taken in the foundation of arts and science in the HKALE. However, will this practice reduce the status and role of elective courses? Some schools will not be examined because the college entrance examination, and reduce the elective course hours, or elective courses just exist in name only?

Lee: I don't think so. Because all candidates must still choose a course in elective subject X . As a school, it must face the requirement of all students to choose a course. Otherwise, students will not be able to cope with the elective subjects comfortably.

42. Isn't everything fine now? I don't want any more changes.

High: If the curriculum changes, of course the exams have to change, otherwise you'll be asked to take something you haven't read before, what will you do? The world changes every day, can you stay the same?

43. As a liberal arts student, since you chose liberal arts, why? I think it is because the science subjects are not good, or not interested in science, what do you think? If that's true, then isn't it unfair to liberal arts positive to have to take a science based test? Similarly as a science student then, isn't it relatively unfair to have to take the foundation of arts?

Gao: You can be uninterested in science, you can study less. But today we live in a scientific age, you can't be a little bit ignorant of science. As a matter of fact, the liberal arts in higher education nowadays expect students to have some foundation in science, otherwise it will be difficult to adapt to university studies. Of course there are exceptions, if you are a genius in liberal arts, for example, like Mao Zedong, then it doesn't matter if you are poor in science, you can be given special consideration. There is a 5% independent enrollment quota for higher education institutions, which is used to enroll some candidates with special circumstances.

44. But we can also think about a challenge for students in mountainous areas, can not it? We often say that we have to think about students in mountainous areas, but actually what is the purpose of proposing this program? We all know that nowadays our mountainous areas are not developing fast and are poor! So why don't we propose a program in their favor? We can all see that the children in the mountains are very serious, but they lack an opportunity, is not it?

Gao: You are talking about a different problem. There is a lot of unfairness in the education system today, and it's true that there are far fewer opportunities for mountain children than for those in big cities. But this is not something that can be solved by a test like the gaokao.
