Why older people have fear of death have fear

Death means the end, means smoke disappears, so except for those who regard death as a home away from home, every one of us ordinary people will be afraid of death.

People in old age, the fear of death depending on the person, some people see through the world's pomp and circumstance, there is no fear of death, some people feel that life has no regrets, there is no fear of death, but there are still many people, they are full of fear of death for various reasons.

Why do older people fear death?

(1) Old age, sickness and death is a process that needs to be constantly faced

No matter how great the breakthroughs in medical research in slowing down the aging process, physiological aging is still unavoidable. From the age of thirty, our heart pumping function declines year by year; around forty, muscle strength begins to go downhill, bone density is lost at a rate of 1% per year; by the age of eighty, we will have lost nearly 25% -50% of our muscles;

Similarly, the brain's processing speed begins to decrease from the age of forty onwards, and by the age of eighty-five, 40% of the population may be suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

From a psychosocial point of view, the chances of dying begin to rise in old age. The unknown of death is one of the reasons why people develop a fear of death.

(2) The gradual departure of friends and relatives brings more loneliness

People may not be afraid of death, but I believe that no one would like to be alone and lonely.

Maybe your own body is still healthy, but whenever the reunion, to the company to participate in the celebration, or chat with the surrounding companions, found that their classmates, colleagues, old partners passed away one after another, inevitably saddened. Seeing friends and relatives around one by one to leave, empathize with the pain they are suffering from the disease, the middle-aged fitness bubble berries, the elderly square dancing, listening to health lectures, are the same as the hope that life can be extended longer

From the perspective of the elderly themselves, death means goodbye to the closest people, and if the family relationship and if the family relationship is harmonious, to each other are reluctant to part with, the fear of death will be deeper. So for the elderly, it is easy to bring the feeling of loneliness.
