New Year

The Great Prayer Puja

The Tibetan New Year - a traditional festival on the first day of the first month of the Tibetan lunar calendar, which lasts for three to five days and is known as the Losai Festival in Tibetan.

Praying for the Great Dharma Assembly (Transmission of the Great Call)

The third day of the first month of the lunar calendar commemorates the victory of Shakyamuni over the six lay masters and their followers in the Dharma Assembly of the City of Gion with the use of incomparable magical illusions and a variety of miraculous transformations, which are called "Molangchenmao" in Tibetan.

Pendulum Festival - held on the 15th day of the first month of each year, Qinghai, Gansu and Tibetan settlements known as the "ghee lantern festival".

February

Devil Sending Festival - on the seventh day of February, people disguised as devils are driven to the other side of the Daxia River and are not allowed to return for seven days.

Lighting Treasure Fair - On the eighth day of February, the statue of the Great Buddha is sunbathed and various treasures are displayed.

"Charge Qu" - late February, also known as the small prayer puja or pass a small call, show Tanggar Buddha statues and the three major temples of the precious treasures.

Shilun Vajra Festival - March 15, commemorating the first day of the first Rao Dzong in the Tibetan calendar (Year of the Fire Hare - 1027 AD).

April

Sagar Dawa Festival - Held on the 15th day of the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar on the banks of the Dragon King's Pool, this festival commemorates the birth of Shakyamuni, his attainment of Buddhahood, his passing away, and the entry of Princess Wencheng into Tibet. Labrang area monks and men do not eat, drink, do not talk for a day and two nights.

Buddha Bathing Festival - Held on April 8, the festival is held in Kangding, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, to offer sacrifices and pray for blessings and worship Buddha.

"Sangi Manla" Festival - the fifth day of the fifth month, the legend says that on this day the medicine saint will scatter the holy water elixir, go up to the mountain to collect medicine and tour the mountain.

Walking Rinka (also known as "Zanlang Jie Sang") - May 1 to May 20, legend has it that the world's gods come down on the day of the fifteenth day to reach a climax, set up a tent picnic, enjoy singing and dancing, and view the natural scenery.

"Danyi Deqin" (also known as pilgrimage to the mountain festival)-. -June 4 is the day on which Shakyamuni taught the "Four Great Truths" to the Buddha, chanting sutras and lighting lamps.

Snowdon Festival - held annually on the first day of the seventh month of the Tibetan calendar, the festival period of four or five days, Snowdon means "yogurt feast", also known as the festival of drinking yogurt, and later evolved into the main Tibetan opera, so also known as the "Tibetan Opera Festival".

Bathing Festival - Tibetan called "Gama Ri Ji" (bathing), held on the sixth to twelfth day of the seventh month of the Tibetan calendar.

August

Wangguo Festival--The traditional festival of the Tibetan people's desire for a good harvest, held on an auspicious day before the autumn harvest, lasting one to three days, once the festival is over, the autumn harvest will begin.

Sublimation Festival - Held on September 22, people make pilgrimages to the Buddha, perform acts of charity and recite sutras.

Tibet's Bathing Festival

The Fairy's Festival - known in Tibetan as Pangla Dangzhen - is held on October 15 and is characterized by a variety of religious activities.

Lantern Festival - Tibetan called "Geden Achu", held on October 25, this day is the day of Tsongkhapa's death, the night all over the laymen and monasteries are on the roof of the lanterns, the monasteries held in religious ceremonies.
