Where are the Bulang people distributed?

1. Bulang nationality is a minority with a long history. The national language is Brown, which belongs to the Brown branch of the Mon-Khmer language family of South Asian language family. It can be divided into two major dialect areas, Brown and Awa, and there is no local language.

2. Bulang nationality has a very rich oral culture, and still retains the most distinctive national language, costumes, songs and dances, customs and habits.

3. Bulang people are mainly distributed in the western and southwestern border areas of Yunnan Province. According to the statistics of the sixth national census on 20 10, the total population of Bulang nationality is 1 19639.

4. Bulang people have many kinds of self-descriptions. The Bulang people living in Xishuangbanna call themselves Brown or Balang, Lincang and Baoshan call themselves Wu, Mojiang, Shuangjiang, Yunxian and Gengma call themselves Awa or Wa, Simao calls themselves Ben, and Wendong Town in Lancang County calls themselves Wenggong and Zhenkang.

5. In the past, other nationalities called Bulang people differently: Shuangjiang Dai people called it La, Lahu people called it Kappa and Kapu, Xishuangbanna Dai people called it boring, Hani people called it Abo or Abei, and local Han and Yi people called it Puman or Puman.

6. After the founding of New China, according to the wishes of this nation, it was called "Bulang".
