Character Evaluation
Na Ying has a naturally good voice, slightly hoarse singing voice reveals a bit of lethargy, but without losing the atmosphere. Na Ying has become one of the iconic figures in Chinese pop music with her brash and maverick nature, typical of the northern part of the country (Sina Review).
After signing with a Taiwanese record label, Na Ying put away her big, bold voice from "Ravine" and wore her long, straight, silky hair, starting with "Thinking of You" and transitioning to love songs until "The Day Doesn't Understand the Darkness of the Night," where she combines atmosphere and subtlety in a seamless way. In the album "So What", it shows a completely different Na Ying, whose huskier voice sings in a rather introspective way, without a hint of party singer, but with the rich experience of vocals as a base, interpreting Cai Jianya's style of deeper inner drama. Na Ying is no longer the loud voice that everyone remembers, but the Na Ying who has erased her former accent and is telling a musical story in depth (commentary by the Morning Post).
Na Ying's album "I'm Not an Angel" not only retains her original high-pitched, shouting style of singing, but also experiments with softrock and airy romantic expressions and difficult vocals that switch between real and fake tones, adding a modicum of finesse to the album and a higher degree of listening, and her potential has been realized as a result. Na Ying is also the lyricist on this album, and the expressive nature of her writing, with a female point of view on the many facets of relationships, be it sweetness, bitterness, hesitation, or hopelessness, shows the resilience of the words and vocals, and adds much more to the life of her music. The hit song of the same name, "I'm Not an Angel", under Na Ying's straightforward interpretation, not only retains Wu Bai's brash personality, but also adds a touch of helplessness behind the bluntness, which is intriguing (commented by Southern Metropolis Daily).
Na Ying is a straightforward and delicate woman, with a voice that is as magnetic and explosive as that of black singers in Europe and America, and all her songs, from the early "The Mountain Doesn't Turn" to the later "Conquest," have been very popular when played in different environments. Na Ying in the "that and what MusicLive" Beijing concert, her several sets of modelling is remarkable, not only reflects its dignified atmosphere and noble temperament, but also outlines her body curve, and its varied modelling also reflects her stage mature atmosphere of the stage style. Na Ying, who is brash and humorous by nature, is in fact a "woman of honor" with delicate and rich inner emotions. In the "That World" global tour, Na Ying showed off her charisma as a singer, no matter whether it is a heartfelt love song or a dynamic and powerful fast song and dance song, she was able to interpret it in a calm and generous manner, which she was able to do ("The World").
