In 2007, several members of the Green Camp Desert Group recruited volunteers from Xi'an university students, and after a series of interviews and selections, the first team of the program was formed, named "Operation Dripping Water". Two teams were assigned to the first program: a team from Alxa Left Banner in Inner Mongolia and a team from Yongshou in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province. The 10-member team from the League of Arab States organized a month of teaching activities in the difficult conditions of Alashan Left Banner in Inner Mongolia, while the 8-member team from Yongshou in Xianyang carried out 25 days of teaching at the Nanzhang Primary School in Changning Town, Yongshou County.
The first program was funded by the Beijing Guanghua Charity Foundation. At the end of 2007, the first project team organized a report meeting and photo exhibition in Xi'an universities, and recruited volunteers for the second project at the same time. After the selection, training, and practice, we embarked on a new journey in 2008!
In the second project, we began to think about the concepts and positioning more in line with the development of the project and more conducive to the development of volunteer activities in support of the mission, and finally decided to commit to the localization of the Shaanxi operation of the project concepts and services to the Xi'an universities volunteers to exchange and learn the positioning of the project. So we handed over the Alxa teaching site to the more convenient conditions of Ningxia University, dedicated to the rural Shaanxi children's English and environmental education participatory teaching.
In the second program, we expanded our area of operation and established the Yongshou team in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province and the Hanyin team in Ankang, Shaanxi Province. after the 5.12 earthquake, we were invited by Friends of Nature to form the Mianzhu team in Sichuan Province, and at the same time, we were invited by the University of Ningxia to form the Alxa team. in the summer vacation of 2008, the four teams went to the four teaching sites to fulfill the sacred declaration of volunteers when they left the camp.
In the second year of the program, we received sponsorship from Google Warmth for China and Action Aid (AA). At the end of 2008, the second project team held 8 presentations and photo exhibitions in 8 colleges in Xi'an, and at the same time released the recruitment information for the third project, which had a great impact. After the registration closed, we a**** received more than 500 registration forms from volunteers inside and outside the province. After a semester-long interview and selection, volunteer team training, team building, field pulling, professional children's English participatory training, teacher skills and a lot of other training, we selected 84 outstanding volunteers. Three program teams were established, Yongshou, Hanzhong and Green Hometown.
The Yongshou team***36 volunteers, including 6 volunteers from outside the province, went to 5 teaching points in the towns of Mafang and Changning in Yongshou; the Loyang team***20 volunteers in Hanzhong, divided into 2 teaching points; and the Green Hometown team***24 people, divided into 6 project teams, went to Sichuan, Alashan, Weinan in Shaanxi, Qianxian in Shaanxi, Dali in Shaanxi, and Shanxi and other teaching points. During the 20 days of teaching, the team members implemented the concept of participatory teaching with the help of the project team's self-developed "Operation Dripping Water" Participatory Fun Teaching of Children's Oral English, and at the same time, according to their own specialties or professional characteristics, the team members opened music, art, physical education, handicrafts, science and technology, environmental education, national education, and themed class meetings, Interest Groups and other rich courses to meet the children's knowledge needs in various aspects. At the same time, each program site according to the interests of students, to carry out fun games, music, English oral, poetry recitation, teachers and students fellowship and other activities, so that students actually experience the joy of learning.
The third project was supported and funded by Action Aid (AA) Yongshou Development Demonstration Zone and Yongshou County Education Bureau, Action Aid (AA) Hanzhong Development Demonstration Zone and Loyang Urban and Rural Development Promotion Association, Huaqiao Foundation, and the Little Swan Art Troupe of Shaanxi Province. The fourth "Water Drops Action" teaching project physical activities from July 09, 2010 to August 05, 2010 to complete the end.
The fourth "Operation Water Drop" teaching program covered Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and other provinces, **** out of the camp volunteers 76 people, teaching content involves: the establishment of rural primary and secondary school libraries and the initial improvement of the management system, rural elementary school students to participate in the teaching of English, the richness of cultural life in the countryside and the construction, primary school students music and dance, and so on. construction, teaching activities of music and dance for primary school students, etc., benefiting three project villages as well as nine project schools.
The fourth edition of the program has made great breakthroughs on the basis of the previous editions: the number of project sites has increased significantly, the scope of the program has been further expanded, and the quality of the program has been greatly improved according to the feedback from project partners and project schools. In addition, the number of project partners has increased in this session, and project diversification has begun to show; activities in support of agriculture have been added to the process of teaching, such as organizing villagers to learn rice-planting songs in Hanzhong, and helping university student village officials to organize some cultural and recreational activities, and so on.
In the fourth year, we received support from Action Aid Loyang Community Development Center, Beijing Guixin Charity Foundation, Shaanxi Little Swan Art Troupe, Shaanxi Mothers' Environmental Protection Volunteer Association, and Wanglaoji. In 2011, the fifth "Operation Water Drop" education program inherited the previous four programs in Baoji Taibai, Hanzhong Loyang, Gansu Chengxian, and Green Hometown, and added two Weinan sites, with more than 80 volunteers in camps.
The fifth program, while continuing to focus on teaching, continued the trend of program diversification started in the fourth program: environmental protection runway shows were held on the basis of environmental education classes, which allowed the children to experience the fun of "turning waste into treasure". The environmental research conducted during the program fully embodied the characteristics of "localization", which can be expected to provide reference for the local government's decision-making. It is a valuable attempt to try a new form of educational support, starting from the children's interests in the form of a summer camp for growth. The return visit and continued follow-up of the existing rural primary and secondary school libraries are conducive to the continuation and depth of the activities, and accumulate valuable experience for the establishment of new libraries.
The key to the quality of the program lies in the improvement of the volunteers themselves. In the six months before the camp, we have further improved the existing volunteer training system, and the volunteer system and team building have been greatly improved compared to the previous session. Through exchanges and cooperation with other organizations, the executive committee has also grown a lot.
The project was supported by Action Aid Loyang Community Development Center, Beijing Guixin Charity Foundation, Shaanxi Little Swan Art Troupe, Shaanxi Mothers' Environmental Protection Volunteer Association, as well as Zero Point Youth Public Welfare Entrepreneurship Program and Beijing Western Sunshine Rural Development Foundation. In 2012, the sixth "Operation Dripping Water" education program added Tongchuan Wangyi District and Weinan Linwei District to its previous program, which included Weinan Chengcheng, Heyang, Baoji Taibai, Gansu Chengxian, and "Green Hometown". The four teaching sites in Weinan Nangou, Tongchuan Zhoujia Village and Gansu Chengxian are the succession of the previous project sites, and the two teaching sites in Xianyang Yongshou are the revisit of the third project sites, each of which contains the project team's deep friendship with the local area. It is especially worth mentioning that one of the volunteers who left the camp this time has a special bond with Dripwater. He grew from a high school student who was helped by the third Dripwater volunteers to an excellent college student and became the seventh field volunteer of the project team, returning to his hometown with the rest of the seven volunteers to dedicate himself to his hometown. This is the best testimony that Drip Volunteers touch the children with their heart! This is the impact of Dripping Water!
The seventh session was precipitated in inheritance and transformed in contemplation. While inheriting the excellent experience of the previous programs, Dripwater people are gradually developing the training system, curriculum system, and shaping the culture of Dripwater to form a set of "Dripwater's" own way.
