Any religious activity that violates the Constitution laws and regulations and policies and regulations are illegal religious activities.
Illegal religious activities take various forms, such as unauthorized religious activities held outside the place of religious activities, building temples indiscriminately, building religious statues indiscriminately, organizing the Hajj pilgrimage without authorization, accepting the appointment of teaching posts by overseas religious organizations without authorization, setting up private meeting places, pretending to be religious clergymen, contracting for the operation of temples, listing temples as assets, preaching on the Internet illegally, organizing people to participate in religious activities outside the country in the name of business and tourism and so on. Organizing people to go abroad to participate in religious activities, and so on. These illegal religious activities not only affect the normal religious order, but also jeopardize the interests of the public ****.
Articles 41 and 56 of the Regulations on Religious Affairs stipulate that
non-religious groups, non-religious colleges and universities, non-religious activity sites, and non-designated places for temporary activities shall not organize or hold religious activities, accept religious donations, carry out religious education and training, or organize citizens' outbound participation in religious training, meetings, activities, and so on. No organization or individual may use public charity activities to proselytize.
The Regulations on Religious Affairs of Henan Province stipulate that no organization or individual may distribute religious publications, printed or audio-visual products in public **** places such as plazas, parks, tourist attractions, stations, docks, airports, hospitals, shopping malls, schools and stadiums. For example, holding religious activities outside the place of religious activities without approval, pulling people on the street to preach, distributing advertisements with religious content in public **** places, dancing square dances with religious content, taking the opportunity to visit patients in hospitals and other public **** places to preach, pulling students into the religion in the name of work-study and organizing employees of enterprises to engage in religious activities, and so on.
