This book is another innovative and bold attempt for me because it is my first book and I hope that it will be the most special, so when I conceived the content of this book, I had a lot to do. When I was conceptualizing the content of this book, we were all thinking, "Do we want to publish the same idol photo book as everyone else? Or is it going to be different?
My agent, Ms. Gui, came up with the idea that we could use a movie or drama as a starting point for the publication of this book, and it just so happens that I myself love watching movies and want to make movies, so Ms. Gui brought the idea of a paper movie book to the publisher, and I'm glad that the publisher agreed with the proposal, which then led to the birth of this book.
From the day I decided to publish the book, I began to conceptualize the plot in my head. I've always had a lot of ideas because of my love of movies, so I told the company that I wanted to try writing my own screenplay, hoping to show people something closer to Yuzhe's, and also to present a new visual breakthrough that would give people a book they had never seen before.
This is a new challenge for my acting because I can only use photos to convey emotions.
Thankfully, director Huang Zhongping, whom I admire very much, is behind the camera for this book. Director Chung-Ping gave me a lot of room for discussion and communication, and this is not the first time we've worked together, so I'm very happy and very relieved to be able to interpret it.
All I can say about the book is that it's cool, so read on!

Around the end of August this year, my editor brought up a collaboration case with me, and since I'd never tried it before, and I was sure it would be a fresh challenge, I agreed to do it.
Before it came to fruition, I kept it a secret from my concerned readers, calling it a "secret mission" for the time being.
The real name of this secret is, "Tang Yuzhe Shadow Word Book". That's right! This new book is a collaboration with the artist Tang Yuzhe! It was a surprise even to me at first, and it still doesn't quite feel real until now.
But the more unbelievable it is, the more I'm looking forward to it. You've never heard of a "shadow book"? It's a book that uses stills and words to tell a story together, which is different from the way I've done it before with just words, and it's really fun and challenging to create.
At the time, it wasn't long after I'd finished writing a 150,000-word novel, and the difference between the word count and the format was so great that it was a bit of a maladaptation at first. Frankly, I don't think I'm very good at short stories; it's too hard to convey a full story in short words, and I prefer to ramble on in words in the realm of the long form, I guess!
But when my editor mentioned the case to me, I jumped at the chance, no matter how unsure I was. It was fun! I've never written a "small talk" story before, and what's even more special is that this one has contextualized photos, so I often tell my friends that I'm writing something that looks like a picture.
Another difficulty was that I didn't have any pictures to look at at the beginning. I only had an outline of the story written by Yuzhe, and after discussing the details with my editor, I started writing (I was pressed for time like you can't imagine). I tried to visualize the story with the limited clues in the outline, and managed to write a few paragraphs, only to realize that there were still a lot of discrepancies when the crew officially started shooting. For example, the entrance to the gardening store had no front door, but I imagined a wooden door that rattled, so then that door was gone (and I liked it).
Thankfully, I received a number of photos that had already been taken, and I was able to cross-reference them, ask my editor about the actual status, and then continue to write as hard as I could (I had a really short time to write, despite the lengthy front-end assignment). Nonetheless, I can't help but smile when I look at a side-by-side shot of a stills that came in the mail. Ah! So that's how it was photographed! I'm writing stories for people who are in a different world from me! What would they think if they read my words?
While I was working on the manuscript, I had a bad cold, and was staring at the blurry computer screen with a fever of 39 degrees, worrying about what to do if I couldn't finish the manuscript (I can't help but emphasize again that time is really scarce). Probably because of the sadness of the story, when I think of myself with a cold, I am also very sad, and the words I write have a bit of sadness in them. In the past, when I was writing a long novel, I would occasionally accidentally talk to myself with words, and knocked down a lot of feelings with the keyboard, but I would always realize that this is a novel, not a collection of small words or poems, and urgently put down my pen. In this new book, I was able to write properly about all kinds of moods.
I heard that December 5 is the publication date, and as I prepare to submit this preface, I am looking forward to what kind of sparks will come out of the "images" and "words", which will be very beautiful and special.
