Xuzhou is located in the southeastern part of the North China Plain, between longitude 116°22′~118°40′ east and latitude 33°43′~34°58′ north. It is about 210 kilometers long from east to west and 140 kilometers wide from north to south.
At the end of 2017, the resident population of Xuzhou was 8,763,500 people. According to the sixth census, Xuzhou has 47 ethnic minorities, with a population of 20,268 ethnic minorities, accounting for 0.02% of Xuzhou's total population, and operates one ethnic middle school, two ethnic elementary schools, and one Xinjiang inland high school class.
Xuzhou is the hometown of Chinese opera.
