"I'll ask. There's nothing to say. The clouds are in the sky and the water is in the bottle." Where did it come from? What do you mean?

I went to see the monk myself, but the monk ignored me, pointed to the sky with his finger, and then pointed to the net bottle, saying only, "The cloud is in the blue sky, and the water is in the bottle." The truth lies in the clouds in the sky and the water in the bottle.

From: Li Ao, a writer in the Tang Dynasty, presented a set of poems "Two Monks Wei Yan in Yaoshan" to Zen master Wei Yan in Yaoshan.

The whole poem is: it looks like a crane, and the word Panasonic has thousands of poems. I asked and said, the cloud is in the blue sky and the water is in the bottle. I chose to live in seclusion, and I was not sent all the year round and was not welcome. Sometimes I go straight to the top of the lonely peak and the clouds roar under the moon.

Vernacular translation:

Monks in Yaoshan practice kung fu, looking like flying cranes, and often recite scriptures under pine trees. I went to visit the monk myself, but the monk ignored me, pointed to the sky with his finger, and pointed to the net bottle, saying only, "The cloud is in the sky, and the water is in the bottle."

The monk chose a quiet place, which was very comfortable. There is no one here all the year round. Sometimes a monk will climb a mountain peak and scream with clouds in the bright moonlight.

The interaction between literati and literati adds a lot of romance to Zen forest. This poem tells the story of a poet asking a generation of eminent monks about Zen and visiting Taoism. The poetic eye of this poem lies in "nothing to say" and "whistling"

There is nothing to say on the avenue, so it is convenient for the whistling under the moon, so that one's body, mind and sound can be completely integrated with the peaks, clouds and moons of nature.

The poem "Clouds in the Blue Sky, Water in the Bottle" is a quatrain that has been circulated for thousands of years, and has aroused the praise of many literati and Zen scholars in later generations.

There is great momentum when pushing the song monk Beihai's letter: "The cloud is in the blue sky, the water is in the bottle, and the courage to pour out one's life." Gold has its own gold price and will not be sold to people with sand. "There is a saying that' gold has its own price', and its lofty sentiments can be described as deep Zen.

Li Ao was a Confucian thinker in the Tang Dynasty, and he also had deep contacts with Buddhist monks. When he was a satrap, he admired Jackson Wei Yan very much and invited him to the city many times, but he didn't get it.

So he personally visited Wei Yan in the mountains and consulted Zen master Wei Yan. But Yan Yan, the Zen master, saw Li Ao come in with Buddhist scriptures in his hand and seemed to ignore him.

The waiter said, the satrap is coming. Li Ao was impatient and said, It's better to meet someone than to be famous. It means: such a big reputation, it turned out to be like this after meeting. Wei yanying went up and said, satrap. Li Ao agreed at once.

Wei Yan said: Why is it expensive? Li Ao thanked Zen master Wei Yan and asked him: What is Tao? Wei Yan pointed up and down and asked Li Ao, Do you understand?

Li Ao said, I don't understand. Wei Yan once said a very famous saying: the clouds are in the sky and the water is in a clean bottle. Li Ao was enlightened when he heard this, so he wrote this poem, which can also be said to be his enlightened poem.

In the whole Tang poetry, the theme is "Give Wei Yan, a monk in Yaoshan", "Practice like a crane" is to praise Zen master Wei Yan, whose figure is like a crane, and "Thousands of pines and two faiths" is to praise Zen master Wei Yan for holding Buddhist scriptures in the forest.

The key sentence is "the cloud is in the sky and the water is in the bottle". It turns out that the clouds are in the sky and the water is in the bottle. This is the existence of Tao.
