There used to be only two turtles in Shayong Village, one female and one male. As time went by, they became worn out, so two more were tied up to replace them. It was not until 1980 that comrades such as Ye Feng from the Panyu Cultural Center processed the Shayong Fish Parade Dance, added content from fish myths and legends, and turned it into a complete stage performance dance. In 1986, Yefeng and Li Hejiang of Panyu Cultural Center processed and compiled the Shayong Aoyu Dance to participate in the National Folk Dance Competition and won the Harvest Award. At the same time, four more fish were made to choreograph a square performance dance. Later, there were no longer two fish, but more than ten. Later, Yuyu could perform on stage and also handle larger-scale square performances.
The Ao Fish Festival in Shayong Village used to be held once every nine years, and the leading star was an ugly man with a black face and bare feet. After the reform and opening up, the living standards of the people in the village have improved, and the dance party has become more popular. The frequency of Aoyu also became more frequent. In 1985, he began to try to meet once every three years, and held meetings during the Spring Festival in 1985, 1988, and 1991. Later, they changed to attending meetings from time to time, and the leading star also evolved into a handsome number one person.
The Aoyu Dance of Shayong Village often participates in large-scale events in provinces and cities. In 1988, it represented Guangzhou City in the first folk art festival of the province; in 1990, it participated in the Panyu Bridge Theater and Sydney, Australia Folk Dance In 1993, he was invited to Guangzhou to participate in the Giant Dragon, Thousand Buddhas and Tens of Thousands of Lanterns show; in 1996, he participated in Guangzhou’s “National Celebration and Mid-Autumn Festival Large-scale Cultural Night” event; in 1997, he helped celebrate the Chinese Drama Festival and Hundred Flowers Award Ceremony; in 1998 In 1999, he participated in the opening ceremony of the Guangzhou Trade Fair Real Estate Expo; in 1999, he participated in the opening ceremony of the Seventh National Middle School Student Games, etc.
