★Avril always wanted to sing on stage one day, and she did. When the record company heard her voice, they signed her immediately, whereas some people take 10 years to negotiate a contract, so even she considers herself very lucky!
After moving to New York City, Avril immediately began working on a record, and when she got her debut CD in 2002, she embarked on a completely different path in life. After only her first album, she became an instant hit, an idolized singer with millions of fans. She was not yet 18 years old. She probably didn't even think she'd be that successful.
The album, titled "Let's Go," sold 9.6 million copies worldwide, and the no-slang style of dress quickly gained the support of a large number of fans. Rolling Stone magazine selected Avril as the 2002 People of the Year, and Newsweek previewed Avril as the 2003 Artist of the Year. Artist of the Year in 2003. She's still promoting the album, but she's not letting up on writing songs for her next album. On Let Go, she sings with flair and vigor, her voice is crystal clear, and her lyrics are purely feminine. "Anything But Ordinary" is an ode to the uniqueness of the individual; Guitar Benz's debut single, "Complicated," is a succinct song that hits the nail on the head for love's crooks; and the strings-drenched "I'm With You" is an anthem for the girl who's been in love with her for years. "I'm With You" reflects Avril's gentler side; "Losing Grip" and "Unwanted" are songs that bravely face the world. "Losing Grip" and "Unwanted" bravely confront the gravity and sadness required by the themes of rejection and betrayal, while "My World" and the metaphorical "Mobile" follow, perfectly stretching out Avril's life experiences. Avril's life experience.
"I've had this awesome opportunity to realize my dreams. I ran all over the place, flew here and there and encountered different things every day." She explained. "That's how I live, but I don't want to live a normal life or I'll get bored." All in all it's an "absolutely extraordinary" album, and we're looking forward to Evelle's next one, and hopefully she'll do even better!
